Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue is a non-profit, completely volunteer-driven organization dedicated
to saving and re-homing Bulldogs with loving families.
Hundreds of Bulldogs are lost, abandoned, taken to animal shelters, or surrende
red to rescue every year. Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue accepts Bulldogs whose owners can no longer keep them, and retrieve Bulldogs from shelters and undesirable situations. Our Bulldogs are placed in suitable homes as soon as reasonably possible.

Senior Bulldogs Need Your Loving Home
|
Among the sad cases Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue volunteers accept are abandoned or surrendered senior Bulldogs. Some have been tossed away like yesterday's newspaper. They may suffer from combinations of malnourishment, poor medical care, various infections, in addition to the usual afflictions that accompany old age.
 With sorrowful hearts, we take in these sweet older dogs. Making a senior Bulldogs happy for its final days will surely reap rewards when we meet them again, across the Rainbow Bridge.
For seniors, adoption prospects fade quickly from dim to black. For many, the best of happy endings is the comfort of dying in the arms of a foster family. They succumb as much from a broken heart as from any of the maladies they suffer.
Senior Bulldogs are not so different from  senior people. We are not as spry and share accumulated infirmities along our journey like joint inflammation, digestive illnesses, eye, nose, and skin irritations, and so forth. Unlike people, however, these dogs do not resort to grouchiness, manipulation, or pouting. Rather, a lifelong hunger for human love dominates the remainder of their numbered days.
No animal bond is stronger than human to dog. As such, we have a special obligation to our canine companions. It is natural and with no shame that most adopters prefer younger dogs. What is more fun than a puppy? In many cases, especially with young families, a puppy is a great choice.
 For many involved in rescue, saving an older dog is a special mission. Most surrendered Bulldogs are late juvenile to middle aged dogs. These dogs have high probability of adoption. For seniors, there is no such adoptive demand.
A senior adopter is a special person. We know that the time together will be short and that health issues may limit our interaction. Yet, there will be no limitation to the love we will share. The Bulldog will be eternally grateful and you will furever enjoy the thrill of escorting one of God's noblest creatures in its final days.

Why Should I Adopt a Senior Bulldog?
|
Many people automatically think of a puppy when they think of adopting a Bulldog. Puppies are warm and cuddly, and everyone wants to hold and pet them. But puppies demand patience and energy to help them become wonderful family members and companions. Older dogs, however, can be as cute and lovable as puppies, and they often come with many wonderful qualities that puppies take years to grow into.
 Maybe you are reluctant to adopt a senior Bulldog because you fear that your time with your new best friend will be short, bringing that painful time of loss closer. But the privilege of loving a senior dog makes every single day special, as you and your companion share love, friendship, and a special relationship that grows stronger with the knowledge that you have given this fine old dog a second chance at life. The love that grows from this knowledge is stronger than the pain of eventual separation.
Reasons to Adopt a Senior Dog
1. Senior dogs love to sleep and cuddle the day away. They enjoy a brisk daily walk, but the best part of the day is the nap. They love for you to join them.
2. Senior dogs have a tremendous amount of love to give. When you rescue a senior dog, you have a best friend for life.
3. Senior dogs reward your care with an unwavering devotion. Nothing matches the gratitude of a senior dog for his rescuer.
4. Senior pets are less destructive. Most older adoptive dogs are well past the search-and-destroy phase. You don't need to worry so much about finding your favorite pair of shoes or a table leg chewed beyond recognition.
5. Senior dogs know that the great outdoors is for eliminating and the house is for relaxing. Your carpet will last longer with a senior dog.
6. Senior dogs can learn new tricks and be valuable family and community members. They make excellent therapy dogs.
7. Senior dogs often fit into your household with ease. They find the softest, warmest spot in the house and claim it for their own, but they will share with you, too.
8. Senior dogs make excellent companions for everyone, especially senior people.
9. Senior dogs are often overlooked in shelters and pounds. Passed over for cute and cuddly puppies, they often do not have a chance and must go to make space for more puppies.
10. Adopting a senior dog saves a life!

In 2015, Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue answered a rescue call. Ronnie saved me from breeders who were finished with my "services." I was not a pet, but an asset to be kept in a wire cage until I was in heat. Even today, I have crate scars because they did not even give me a comfort pad.
While in rehab, I was given medical treatment, spayed, and fitted with a microchip so I could always be found. Then, I experienced something unimaginable-placement with a loving foster family. Led by Mom Alison, they gave me nutrition, attention, but most importantly love. My incredible luck was about to get even better.
My fosters recognized and cultivated my loving nature and made me feel special. They helped me to select my adoptive family. It was a love-at-first-sight experience! In October 2015 off I went to my fur-ever family. Wow, what a ride it has been for the past 17 months.
I have heard my new family gush over me, thinking that they have hit the jackpot. On another paw, I cannot believe my luck. My earlier life is behind me. I sleep in Dad's bed, ride shotgun on all his errands, and conduct "love-ins" at my many public appearances. I party like its 1999 and dine like a food critic.
I like to hear my "peeps" talk about how important it is to take care of me. My lifetime is short and they are committed to optimizing my time with them. We live and love large.
Here  is a picture taken on 12 Feb at a LSBCR event at the Cold Beer Company in Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas. I am on the right and skin-sister Brie on the left holding the heart. Sorry for you boys, we are both taken, but many other Bulldogs (and girls) are available.
When you adopt a Bulldog, you save a life. We were put on Earth to be loyal and loving companions and cannot exist without you.
In return for our adoption, we bring a world of love, fun, and enchantment into your home. My family still talks about Lola, my Bulldog predecessor.
You will fall in love with us and we are furever grateful for you opening your home and heart to us. Otherwise, we helpless Bulldogs' lives would be destroyed.
I am a happy pup, content, and furever grateful for my blessings. Others like me are waiting to write stories of how they were saved by a loving family like yours.

Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue is heading down to Waco to represent our beloved breed at this event! The goal of the fun day will be to educate the public about the large number of purebred dogs in need of forever homes.

We'll be selling tickets for this evening, featuring great coffee, craft beer, delicious wine and tasty grub. Keep your eye on this page for more information, as tickets will need to be secured in advance. Note: This is an event for two-leggers only, but we'll be raising funds for our four-legged rescued dogs.
