Senior advisor Richard Bickel will be meeting in Washington, D.C. as a member of the Transit Cooperative Research Program's Screening Panel on Wednesday, Aug. 5.

 

ESI President and Principal Stephen Mullin will be speaking at the Appraisal Institute's Philadelphia Metro Chapter meeting on Thursday, Aug. 6 at Citizen Bank Ballpark.

 

ESI Vice President and Principal Lee Huang will be presenting on tax burdens in Upper Merion Township, Pa. at a King of Prussia Business District Event on Friday, Sept. 9.

Dilworth on the Rise and Fall of Philadelphia's Commercial Corridors
ESI senior advisor  Richardson Dilworth penned "The Rise and Fall of Philadelphia's Commercial Corridors" for the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia's website.

As the title suggests, Dilworth delves into how a commercial corridor in the city can rise to prominence and how so many have fallen on hard times. He suggests that neighborhoods and their conditions greatly affect a commercial corridor. But he also says there is hope through such things as business improvement districts and business incubators.

Macao Professors Visit ESI
Professors Dr. Zhonglu Zeng and Dr. Changbin Wang from the Macao Polytechnic Institute visited ESI's Philadelphia office on Tuesday, July 7 to meet with ESI's directors and staff and discuss the results of ESI's 2014 study on the current and future conditions of gaming in Pennsylvania.

That study details the effects Pennsylvania's casinos have had on Atlantic City's casinos and its economy. The professors described how Macao has had legalized gaming for years but more and more neighboring countries are starting to legalize gaming. They wanted to learn more about the Atlantic City situation because they felt there could be some similarities.

Naroff Economic Advisors & ESI Team Up with
NJBIA for Monthly Review

As part of a new agreement, ESI senior advisor and president of Naroff Economic Advisors, Inc. Joel Naroff will be writing a monthly economic review for members of the New Jersey Business and Industry Association (NJBIA).

 

Naroff's first monthly economic review, which was published on July 24, focuses on the state of New Jersey's economy.

 

In the review, Naroff says the fact that New Jersey's "broadening job gains" give hope that the state's economic recovery and expansion are "starting to pick up steam."

 

He finishes by stating that New Jersey's economy will continue to push forward with the help of a U.S. economy that is expected to continue expanding in the near future.

Ontiveros/ESI Joint Venture Presents at COMTO Conference

Ethan Conner-Ross and Amber Ontiveros of the Ontiveros/ESI: Equity Solutions joint venture delivered a presentation on the joint venture's "State of Good Repair and Transit Equity" paper at the Conference of Minority Transportation Officials' (COMTO) 44th National Meeting and Training Conference on Monday, July 13 in Boston.

The presentation touched on State of Good Repair (SGR) program projects and their impacts on maintaining transit access for minority and low-income communities and how principles of sound equity analyses can be applied to SGR expenditures.
