"Equivalence Status"
USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) updated its
"Equivalence Status Chart" yesterday. It's a helpful guide for those who want to know where their food may be coming from. It includes country specific footnotes.
"Equivalence Status" is a grade assigned to foreign countries with a food safety inspection system that achieves a protection level for public health that is equivalent to that applied domestically in the United States for the FSIS-regulated product they wish to export.
EWG's 2017 Shopper's Guide to Pesticides in Produce™s
More and more Americans are demanding food free of synthetic chemicals. But EWG's analysis of tests by the U.S. Department of Agriculture found that nearly 70 percent of samples of 48 types of conventionally grown produce were contaminated with pesticide residues.
The USDA found a total of 178 different pesticides and pesticide breakdown products on the thousands of produce samples it analyzed. The pesticides persisted on fruits and vegetables even when they were washed and, in some cases, peeled.

As people are trending away from sugary beverages, they still want drinks with some flavor and panache.
