President's Message
Donna Broderick
"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much"   - Helen Keller

This statement truly embodies the concept of Impact 100. On January 19th, at a sold out Membership Announcement Event, we announced the news that by pooling our membership dollars together we are able to award  $404,000 to our community this year - 4 grants of $101,000 each!  This September, after our Annual Awards Celebration, Impact 100 will have awarded over $4 Million since our first grant was awarded in 2002!

The organization has over 460 members this year - with over 100 new members joining us for the first time.  Our loyal renewing members bring over 2,000 years of Impact 100 experience to the organization.  Combining this amazing foundation with an awesome group of new members with fresh ideas and wonderful energy promises to bring about great results in 2017!

There were 116 Letters of Intent (LOI) submitted in December - a 50% increase from last year and the diversity, strength, creativity and proposed IMPACT of these programs/projects are remarkable! The Focus Area Committees (FAC) have begun working together around town to evaluate the LOIs submitted by nonprofit organizations seeking to be awarded one of our FOUR $101,000 grants.

After careful consideration each FAC will select the most promising projects and the sponsoring organizations will be invited to submit a full Grant Application.  These Grant Applications are due in late March - and FACs will review and consider them between April and mid-June.  All members are welcome to join the FAC for the grant review - you need not have participated in the LOI review to join for the Grant Application Review. CIRC (our financial review committee) will also be active during this time ensuring the viability of the organizations and their projects.

Sign up NOW to volunteer with Impact 100! In addition to our FACs we have a number of standing committees that our members may be interested in joining:
  • Event Planning
  • Marketing
  • Membership & Recruiting
We also welcome help in various areas of experience such as:
  • Data Analytics
  • Excel Database Management
  • Finance
  • Grant Writing
  • Graphic Design
  • Information Technology
  • Legal
  • Sponsorship & Sponsor Outreach
  • Web Development
You can sign up on the website by clicking HERE.

Thank you for joining us in transforming our community! I look forward to seeing you at upcoming Impact 100 events in 2017!

All the best,
Donna Neyer Broderick

Member Spotlight!
Shannon Yung

Who am I?
My name is Shannon Yung and I am a second year member of Impact 100's Young Philanthropist Program. I am passionate about issues involving social justice, racial reconciliation, poverty and childhood hunger. I have found outlets for these interests in a variety of nonprofits and volunteer roles over the past several years including CityLink Center, St Vincent de Paul, ProKids, Crossroads and the United Way to name a few. Our region has so much potential and I look forward to being a part of that progress any way that I can.

What got you involved in Impact 100?
A friend invited to me a Spread the Word event at her home in 2015. The speaker was from the Washing Well project of Community Matters, a 2014 grant recipient. The idea that they had was so out of the box and so obvious at the same time. I was immediately intrigued by an organization that allows for creative ideas to fix everyday problems for our neighbors. The Young Philanthropist Program made the idea of joining Impact 100 a no brainer because of the ease in which I have been able to continually increase my giving, rather than come out of the gate with a large contribution.

What keeps you a member?
Two things:
1) It has been incredibly easy to get involved with committees of Impact 100 and really feel like a part of the organization. This makes it worth my time and resources.
2) It is really rewarding to be part of an organization that is able to give so significantly to nonprofits that it literally changes the scope of what they are able to accomplish

Nonprofit Juggling - Securing the Future
Nonprofits Have a Lot of Balls to Juggle
  • Running effective programming
  • Ensuring board members are engaged
  • Finding "freebies"
  • Even meeting payroll each month
Meanwhile, priorities have changed. What balls do we still need to juggle? What are the new juggling skills we need to have in order to be successful?
Vu Le, author behind nonprofitwithballs.com and grizzled executive director of Seattle-based organization, Ranier Valley Corps, will lead an entertaining discussion covering today's new perspective and how we can end the "Nonprofit Hunger Games."

WCGN National Leadership Conference
Women-Powered Philanthropy

As a member of Impact100 Cincinnati, you are part of a strong and growing Women's Collective Giving Network (WCGN), a consortium of women's giving organizations around the country representing 13,000 women who are members of over 48 collective giving organizations who awarded approximately $90 million in grants this year. Our own Jenny Berg is on the board of directors as the WCGN Vice Chair.

WCGN is a virtual network offering regular educational webinars monthly from September through May. WCGN also understands that women hunger to meet, work, talk, and network with other like-minded women in person. With that in mind, every 18 months WCGN convenes an exciting educational conference and celebration of women's collective giving grantmaking hosted by a member organization in its own hometown. Beyond providing plenty of opportunities for face-to-face networking, our Collective Giving Leadership Forums feature inspirational speakers in the field of philanthropy, educational workshops, and panel discussions covering front-and-center issues in collective giving. Speakers include outside experts and our own members.

The next conference is this March 12-14, 2017 hosted by the Women's Giving Alliance of Jacksonville, Florida at One Ocean Resort in Atlantic Beach, FL. More info and registration can be found HERE.
