Rural Routes Podcasts
Episode 14: Rural Health with Lars Hallstrom 
 
In Canada, we recognize 14 social and economic factors that influence human health. These social determinants of health range from income and education, to housing, to gender and race. ACRSC Director, Lars Hallström thinks we could add living rural to that list. This episode of Rural Routes is the first one in which we tackle health and well being in rural areas.
 
 


Rural Development Institute Research: Working Paper Series

The Rural Development Institute has released a Working Paper Series on Rural Regions.  These five working papers have been written to add to the conversation about rural regions from an economic perspective.



Government of Alberta Workplace Legislation Review

A review of the  Employment Standards  and  Labour Relations Codes in Alberta  is needed to ensure Alberta has fair, modern and family-friendly workplaces that support a growing economy. Albertans should be able to go to work and contribute to our economy while still being able to care for themselves and their families.  The AB Government wants you to share your ideas by completing an online survey.

Creating Rural Connections 2017

This one day rural and remote homelessness and housing conference will feature two keynote presenters, four concurrent session speakers, one workshop and 3 panel sessions.  Topics will be rural focussed, and will range from mental health, addictions and homelessness to building     
    capacity in the affordable housing sector. 


The Future of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Broadcasting: Conversation and Convergence
 
This year - the second in the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission's Three Year Plan (2016-2019) - the CRTC plans to review the Native Broadcasting Policy (CRTC 1990-89).  The gatherings entitled  "The Future of First Nations, Inuit and Métis Broadcasting"  aim to bring practitioners, policy makers and academics together as allies to prepare a context for respectful and meaningful consultation.
