Special Needs Trusts Fairness Act
As of December 13, 2016, a new federal law allows disabled individuals to establish their own first-party payback Special Needs Trusts. This e
mpowers capable individuals with disabilities to establish their own first-party (self-settled) Special Needs Trusts without having to go to court. Before this law, individuals had to rely on a parent, grandparent, guardian or court.
As advocates, we are always glad to hear about opportunities for independence for
individuals
with disabilities.
