We have helped hundreds of families and individuals plan for independence and inclusive lives.  Life Side by Side is a social media campaign to highlight the many ways in which people with and without developmental disabilities come together to form strong, diverse communities. The campaign seeks to raise awareness about the inclusion of people with developmental disabilities in all facets of community life, as well as awareness to the barriers that people with disabilities still sometimes face in connecting to the communities in which they live.

We love to share stories of inclusion on our Facebook page.
If you have a special story that features living Life Side by
Side, please share it with us here and use #DDawareness to  link to other great stories of inclusion and opportunities
within our community.
Special Needs Trusts Fairness Act
As of December 13, 2016, a new federal law allows disabled individuals to establish their own first-party payback Special Needs Trusts. This e mpowers capable individuals with disabilities to establish their own first-party (self-settled) Special Needs Trusts without having to go to court. Before this law, individuals had to rely on a parent, grandparent, guardian or court.

As advocates, we are always glad to hear about opportunities for independence for  individuals  with disabilities.
