Don't Forget to Be Awesome
Don't Forget to Be Awesome (DFTBA) raised $71,000 for 10 Refugee Resettlement agencies. DFTBA is a company that helps creative people make a living doing what they love. Their CEO, Hank, created a Refugee Art Charity Campaign and sold posters displaying positive images of support for immigration and refugee resettlement in the US.
DFTBA chose Opening Doors as one of the 10 recipients of the campaign! Thank you, Hank, Dave, and the entire DFTBA Team for your humbling generosity.
Davis Community Church
Thank you to the congregants of Davis Community Church (DCC) for organizing a "Welcome Kit" drive for our refugee families! DCC collected nearly $10,000 in household goods and other necessities for these families in need. We are so grateful!
United Way
Thank you to United Way Capital Region for their funding of our Prosperity Project. Their grant will allow expand our financial coaching capabilities. Our Refugee Childcare Business Program Coordinator will be able to provide one-on-one financial coaching to an additional 20 women per year. It will also provide the resources for our Hispanic Prosperity Program (HPP) Manager to increase the number of participants within our MoneyWork$ program from 40 to 60 as well as to provide an additional one-on-one coaching session with each participant. We are grateful for your support!

Success Story: Mauricio
Mauricio Flores is a man who found himself struggling to make ends meet and to keep a roof over his family's head.
Because of this, Mauricio wanted to learn how to manage his money properly in order to provide a better life for his loved ones. As a prospective business owner, Mauricio knew that in order for his business to succeed, he must first be able to achieve stability in his personal finances.
Mauricio describes finding the MoneyWork$ program as a stroke of luck. H
e attended a speaking engagement at the Mexican Consulate, where he learned about the resources the MoneyWor$ program had to offer. He immediately realized the program was the opportunity he was looking for to meet his financial goals.
"I now have a clearer vision of how to project my business, and achieve the uniqueness of it, and although it seems incredible, I love the idea that there is a lot of competition because it makes me give my best," Mauricio explained.
Overall, Mauricio now finds himself in a stable financial situation. He is diligently working on obtaining licensing so that he can get his business, American Home Restorations, up and running.
He is firm believer in the value of the MoneyWork$ program because of how it can help a person gain valuable financial knowledge.

Contra is a type of American folk dance that requires no experience. We have caller, Erik Hoffman and a local Davis band, Paddy on the Binge. Each dance involves easily repeated patterns that nearly anyone can perform. All proceeds from the dance will go to Opening Doors Refugee Resettlement Program.

- Receive training on human trafficking and how it appears in Sacramento
- Visit businessed to inform them of a state law requiring certain businesses to post notices with human trafficking information
- Provide locally designed posters that highlight the National Human Trafficking Hotline and text number to area businesses
