March 5-11 Named Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week
During the March Board of Supervisors' meeting, the board presented a proclamation to John Platt, Chairman of the National MS Society's Pennsylvania Government Relations Committee, proclaiming the week of March 5-11, 2017 as Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Week.
The National MS Society defines Multiple sclerosis (MS) as an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information within the brain, and between the brain and body.
All residents are encouraged to learn more about multiple sclerosis and what they can do to support individuals with MS and their families.

Moon Township's Environmental Advisory Council in partnership with JVS Environmental host quarterly Electronics Collections to gather unused and unwanted electronic items. These events collect electronic items only, including printers, copiers, computers, laptops and televisions.
Only 1 TV per vehicle will be accepted.
Electronics Collections are open to Moon Township residents, businesses and surrounding communities.

Moon Township Annual Recycling Day: June 3

Mark your calendars for Moon Township's Annual Recycling Day. This event is open to Moon Township residents only, proper ID is required.
Accepted items include: usable construction materials, household appliances, electronics, and some medical supplies.
Only one TV per vehicle can be accepted.
Items may be dropped off at the Moon Township Municipal Building, 1000 Beaver Grade Road from 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. Moon Township's Environmental Advisory Council, with the assistance of community volunteers, hosts this annual event on the 1st Saturday in June to help keep reusable items out of landfills.

WM at Your Door Program Available for Moon Residents
Can't make it to one of our recycling days this year? Waste Management offers a residential curbside speical materials pickup. The "At Your Door Special Collection" program allows Moon Township residents to easily and safely dispose of household materials.
There are three ways to schedule a collection:

Moon Public Works Spring Cleanup Schedule
April 3-28
Monday-Friday
Curbside branch pick up will run Monday through Friday, April 3-28. The schedule follows the residents' regular garbage collection. The drop off site is open to Moon Residents at any time, just call the township office before you drop off any brush. Residents are also reminded that the township offers FREE mulch and composed leaves at the Downs station with as much available as wanted.

Moon VFC Lenten Fish Fries Back in Action

Join the Moon Township Volunteer Fire Company for their annual
Lenten Fish Fries. Both take-out and sit down dinners are available.
Choose from fish, shrimp, chicken fingers, sandwiches and desserts.
All dinners include fries and our special firehouse recipe coleslaw.

Tune into Public Awareness Weekend, March 24-26
Join MCA-TV on March 24-25, 2017 at their annual Public Awareness Weekend! PAW is a two-day, 24 hour, live television event featuring interview broadcasts with Pittsburgh-area nonprofits. Each group will have the opportunity to speak for 30-minutes to educate others about their cause and encourage the community to take part and volunteer. All interviews will air live during the event and periodically following the event on MCA-TV's cable stations Comcast channel 14 and Verizon FiOs channel 35 reaching approximately 45,000 households in Moon Township and surrounding areas.

MCA-TV Film Fest Returning This Summer
MCA-TV is excited to announce the return of its annual Film Festival. The festival is in its sixth year, with films scheduled to air in May 2017.
The Film Festival experienced tremendous success in its previous years. Approximately 50 local filmmakers submitted more than 75 films in a variety of genres.
Previously, thanks to monetary donations from local companies, MCA-TV was able to award more than $3,500 in prize money to the winners.

Moon VFC Sportsmans' Bash

Come out to the Public Safety Building for the Annual Sportman's Bash held by the Moon VFC. Tickets cost $30 and only 1,000 tickets are available, so grab yours today! Food and refreshments will be available and raffle drawings will be held every 15 minutes (you must be 18 years or older to enter). Tickets are available for purchase from any Moon firefighter.
