Dear Friends,
On October 4, 2007 a friend of mine, J
am
es Slater, was gunned down by youth on his way hom
e. James worked at Action for a Better Community as a community organizer. When James died the
collective cry of the community was that this senseless gun violence had to stop. But as time passed that cry dissipated and eventually it
disappeared. Since James death, hundreds of other persons have been victims to gun violence in Rochester. Thousands have died in our country. The cry is always the same, "We must do something!"
