Principal's Message
Parents,
What a great celebration we had with Elise Broach, author of Masterpiece, to wrap up this year's One School, One Book title. Ms. Broach prepared two assemblies about writing surrounding one of her picture books, and of course, our favorite title, Masterpiece. She was so inspiring to all of us, reminding us to keep notebooks of ideas. Did you know that the story of masterpiece came to her from back when she was in graduate school? She was getting her PhD in history and after studying one night, dropped her contact lens down the drain and said to herself, "If only I had a little creature to crawl down there and get it for me!" The rest, as they say, is history. That story sat in her head for twenty years before she wrote it! So families, don't throw out your child's writing! Thank you, again, parents and PTA for the generous Arts for All donation that has made this, and all our wonderful assemblies, possible.
Friday we are celebrating Read Across America with a comfy pajama and reading day. Please make sure your child's outfit that day is school appropriate and safe for the playground. No slippers, please!

District News
District Master Plan
In June, 2016, WCSD passed a facility bond to upgrade facilities, infrastructure and improve energy efficiency in all Walnut Creek School District Schools. In November, the Governing Board contracted with WLC Architects to create a Master Plan for the district to ensure we have a comprehensive blueprint to provide students with safe, 21st century learning environments.
Please join us for a second site meeting offered to Murwood staff and community members along with District and Architectural representatives to engage stakeholders in defining the How and Why Schools look different in the 21st Century on
March 13th from 3-5 PM.

Please join WCEF - Walnut Creek Education Foundation team on OhmConnect? It's a program that donates to the school when you save energy at home. We need to replace eScrip this year and this program is free and super simple to join. Let Alison Gomez know if you have any questions about it!
