Tour "Upstairs Downtown"
Downtown Partners is teaming up with several property owners to bring you "Upstairs Downtown," a very special tour of upper story spaces. It will be held Sunday, April 2 from noon to 4 PM. Advance tickets will be available for $10 at the Iowa Store and The Medium/Weird Harold's or online at GreaterBurlington.com. On the day of the tour, tickets may be purchased at the door of any tour site for $15. The featured locations are 515 Jefferson, McConnell Lofts at 200 N. Fourth, the Historic Tama Complex at 300-310 Jefferson, and Schramm's Corner at Third and Jefferson.

Downtown Coffee & Conversation
All downtown property and business owners, employees, and residents are invited to Downtown Partners' first Coffee and Conversation on Wednesday, March 29 at 8 AM. This new event, organized by the Business Development Committee, will take place on a regular basis and is designed to engage our stakeholders, foster communication, and strengthen the downtown community. We'll be meeting this month at The Beancounter, 212 Jefferson. Hope to see you there!

Downtown Open 4 Business Competition
With Main Street Iowa and the Iowa Economic Development Authority, Downtown Partners presents the Open 4 Business competition for either a new or expanding for-profit business locating in the Main Street district. Each of the state's Main Street organizations can submit one business concept. Three local applicants will pitch their business concepts to Downtown Partners, with the winner receiving a rental assistance grant if they open in downtown Burlington. In addition, they will go on to one of five regional competitions in June for a chance at $8000. The five finalists will present their ideas in a statewide contest in August for an additional $20,000 in funding.

Thanks to the participating merchants and presenting sponsor Des Moines County Historical Society for a successful Chocoholic Frolic. The combination of great weather and moving the event to a Saturday afternoon resulted in double the number of last year's Chocoholics. We heard many good remarks from people who were pleased with all that downtown has to offer.

Downtown Partners continues to work on 300 Washington. Items were donated to Hopefully Yours and Preservation Station, the fourth floor has been cleaned out, and Myers Construction is repairing the two failing roof trusses. This project is supported in part by the State Historical Society of Iowa, Historic Resource Development Program.

The Jefferson St. Farmers Market steering committee is seeking vendors of local and specialty produce, handcrafted items, and prepared food.
