130 people came to St. Stephen's for the imposition of ashes and private prayer at a service held from 7:30 - 10:15 am today . Instead of "ashes on the go," people were guided into the sanctuary, offered ashes and a blessing, and a chance to sit for a few minutes in reflection before they headed off.

They began at 7:30 am  and continued even beyond the scheduled service time, with worshippers asking for prayer at the Parish House. So many came by that service was extended to 12:15 pm.  All told 175 people visited St. Stephen's today!

Going forward, weekday services will be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 12:15 pm beginning Tuesday, March 7th.

During the week, the Parish House will be open Monday through Thursday and the church will open at 12 noon on worship service days.

This new ministry at St. Stephen's is an answer to prayer, and a sign of the transformation, life and vitality that the Holy Spirit breathes into new and innovative ministries as we come together as a diocese.
Yours in Christ,

The Rt. Rev. Daniel G. P. GutiƩrrez
XVI Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Pennsylvania
