Self Love artists and their stories

Baring one's soul on canvas or through other media is creative, personal and therapeutic.  We thank our "Self Love" artists who shared their emotions with us for our exhibit.

Last month we featured works by I rene Reece, Fulden Sara Wissinger, Melba Lee,  Elle Cox and Monica Kennedy.  This month the spotlight shines on Samiria Percival, Bert Bertonaschi, Rebecca Baffour, Lauren Cross and LaTonia Allen.



Rebecca Baffour started painting because of a broken heart. " I was seeking a love
from someone who was not ready to give me love, when loving myself was I needed."


"Daisy's Casual Corner," digital inject prints by Lauren Cross, pay tribute 
to her grandmother's magical ability to dress up one's wardrobe with the right scarf.


LaTonia Allen with her "Elly and Jasmine" artwork.



The mixed media piece by Bert Bertonaschi, although untitled, sends a message.

Alvia Wardlaw, one of the country's leading experts
of African American art and guest of honor at
our birthday bash, will sign her books at The Collective

Saturday, April 1,
from 4 to 6 p.m.

Workshops and demonstrations  are offered at The Collective,
4101 San Jacinto, Suite 116, on Thursdays
from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and Fridays from 1 to 3 p.m.

The Community Artists' Collective invites you to learn about and to
work on textiles, including quilting, knitting, crochet and embroidering.
