Order Your Easter Plants

Yes, you correct...Easter is well over a month away. So why should you place your order by Sunday, March 12th? Because the students at Central Nine, the same ones who grew the beautiful poinsettias last Christmas, will be growing Easter Lilies and Ferns for us and they need a little more lead time.

Lilies are $7 each and ferns are $10.  Order forms will be available at the kiosk on Sunday.

We Want You!

Our Leadership Development Team will be meeting soon to begin the nomination process for various roles.  If you have recently been attending, please be sure the office has your contact information.  Please email Terri (terri@southportchurch.org) in the office, especially if your information has changed or you have recently begun attending

Leadership Role Spotlight:  Elder
When you look in our bylaws, it says an elder "strives to be the spiritual leaders of the congregation...their leadership, actions, and participation shall strive to be our Lord's servants and examples in faith".  This seems like such a tall order to fill, but what an amazing goal to shoot for! Isn't that the walk we should all wish to travel? Being an elder has stretched me beyond myself, but only in ways I was ready for. Our SCC friends see us during worship as we strive to bring inspiring thoughts toward giving of our time, talent and treasure, and prayerful thanks during communion at the table.

Additionally, we visit shut-ins and call on members who may be temporarily not able to come to worship. All of these activities are voluntary and you are supported all along the way. Our largest task is to simply be prayerful toward our God and spiritual in our walk. We are here in support of everyone!

2017 General Assembly

2017 General Assembly

Celebrate our ONEness!
Have you heard the African term "Ubuntu"? If you haven't, it is a concept that essentially says "I am because you are."   In our individualized Western culture it is a challenge to understand, but as Disciples, we have a head start. Community is essential to our understanding of life as ONE in Christ. Paul says, "If ONE member suffers, all suffer together with it; if ONE member is honored, all rejoice together with it," in 1 Corinthians 12 (NRSV).

The 2017 General Assembly, held in INDIANAPOLIS July 8 - 12 offers a chance to celebrate and rejoice as ONE and learn about the good Disciples are doing in the world. It is an opportunity to share our stories and hear from our sisters and brothers in God's ONE family. And we will hear the results of Mission First!

Early registration discount ends on April 1st!  Preview Guides are available at the kiosk.
The People's Book Club

Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, April 25 from 6:30-8:30.  The t ime has been extended by 1/2 hour because we will be discussing 2 books. (We are not meeting in March due to spring break for schools.)

The books are: "The Devil in the White City" by Eric Larson and "Small Great Things" by Jodi Piccoult. Everyone is welcome to join us at Sue Meyer's residence.

It's Gardening Time!
Are you looking for a community ministry that shares the love of Christ with those in need? Then you are invited to join SCC Gardeners.  Last year we grew many pounds of fresh produce for Hunger, Inc., other food banks and members of our community.

If you are interested in a plot (approx. 14x24) or want to learn more, contact Henry Johnson (317) 882-4862 or (317) 709-1732 (no texts, please.) When a list of SCC Gardeners is formed, a meeting to discuss details will be held. Thank you, CCC for giving permission to use the ground again!
Fellowship of the Congregation

Carolyn Hilt will be moving to Arizona the first week of April.  We wish her continued blessings!
