Attention 2017 Bible Readers

Stick with your goal of reading the Bible through in a year.  You will never regret the time invested in reading and studying God's Word.  You don't have to start in January - March is a perfect time to commit to reading the Word.  Folks who have taken the challenge have said "I don't want to stop reading.  I never knew the Bible could be so interesting!"

Everyone who reads the Bible through will receive an invitation to dinner at the Hardwick home prepared by the pastor himself.

I love that quote by Tozer!  As we enter these weeks leading up to Resurrection (Easter) Sunday, I pray we will all be increasingly aware of God's nearness to us, in every moment of our lives.

Speaking of Easter (which is only seven weeks away), our Easter Cantata this year is entitled:  "Worthy is the Lamb."  Rehearsals will be on Sundays following services from 11:15 to 12:15.  Everyone is welcome to join the choir.  The songs are all easy to learn and easy to sing.  You will probably already be familiar with most of them.

I'm also very excited to announce that Joe and Beth Sebastian will again be leading us in a Seder Supper Celebration on Maundy Thursday, April 13.  This was such a wonderful time of fellowship and worship last year.  This reenactment of the same supper Jesus had with his disciples is filled with rich and meaningful symbolism.  It is very "family-friendly" meaning kids of all ages are welcome.  I hope you will attend!

Ongoing Discipleship Opportunities

We have several ongoing discipleship opportunities.
We encourage you to join us for fellowship and learning!

Sunday School Class: (Sunday at 9 am). Join us in the education wing classroom with Pastor Christian as he leads this class through a David Cook study.

Men's Bible Study: (Wednesday at 6:30 pm). The men meet in the classroom of the education wing building for a deeper study of the Sunday sermon with Pastor Hardwick. Contact Luis Carrazana at 434-989-8862 for more information. 

Women's Bible Study:  We are currently searching for someone to lead the Women's Bible Study.  Please contact Gena Carrazana at 434-989-8834 if you are interested.

 Youth and Young Adults (ages 12-18) 

The Youth Group is kicking off March by taking Recharge to a church member's house. We are continuing to work our way through the book of Acts learning about God's plan for His Church and for all of our lives.  This month we are beginning to meet for evangelism and outreach events.  As we study God's Word together, we strive to live out Jesus' commands and practice being bold with our faith.  At the end of March (31 - April 2), the group is heading to Watermarks Camp for a weekend retreat.  Middle and High Schoolers are all welcome to join our group for a great camp experience. Students are also invited to  Recharge - Sunday evenings from 5 to 7 pm.  We have games, supper, and always dive into God's Word together.

Parents' Morning Out:  March 11, 2017
Parent's Morning Out will be held on Saturday, March 11, from 9 to 11:30 am.  Infants to 5th graders are welcome to come and join the fun.  To register, go to signupgenius.com For more information or to volunteer, please contact Karren Elias at [email protected]  

Hillsboro Christian Preschool is enrolling for the 2017-18 school year.  Applications are available in the Preschool Office and on the church website at www.hillsboro.cc  -click on "Daily Preschool."

Call the Preschool at 434-823-5342 if you are interested in Summer Camp 2017.  Space is limited.

Yard Sale April 22 for Mission Trip
New and gently used items are needed for the yard sale to be held on Saturday, April 22, from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm, to raise money for the Mission Trip in August.  Food items will also be offered for sale so dust off your favorite recipes and bring those items to be sold.  See Jonathan Gilliland for further details.

Vacation Bible School
VBS will be held Sunday through Friday, June 11-16, 2017.  The theme this year is Galactic Starveyors - Discovering the God of the Universe.  Volunteers are needed. Please see Karren Elias or Kathy Gilliland for more information.



The Ambassadors Ministry 

We continue to pray for and support our students, missionaries, and military members while they are geographically away from Hillsboro.  In February, packages of cookies were sent along with encouraging notes from the youth group.  Each month the Ambassadors receive some type of encouragement in the mail to remind them that God is with them, they are prayed for, and they are not forgotten.

Benevolence Luncheon

Thank you to Noel Purdy, Jonathan Gilliland and all who helped with the Benevolence Luncheon on February 19th.  It was a huge success!!!  The food was delicious, and $2334 was collected to help those in need.
