March 2017
Embrace, Empower, Inspire...
Lent
season of renewal
and reconciliation

"We are ambassadors for Christ,
as if God were appealing through us.
We implore you on behalf of Christ,
be reconciled to God.
For our sake he made him to be sin who did not know sin,
so that we might become the righteousness of God in him.

Beyond the classroom: Barristers Club
Courthouse
Barristers_Group

On February 3, 2017 our Barristers Club had the wonderful opportunity to visit both the East Los Angeles Courthouse and the offices of the California Highway Patrol. While at the Courthouse our students were privileged to meet Judge Shelly Torrealba; Ms. Carla Galindez, Attorney - Public Defender; and Ms. Martha Landeros, Spanish-English interpreter.

The offices of the California Highway Patrol offered additional excitement and knowledge of how to be part of the community.  Students began with a tour, learned about the abilities of the K-9 unit and tried out the motorcycles! This was an unforgettable experience for our Comets.

The Sacred Heart High School Barristers Club was founded by our former faculty member, Ms. Ceccon. This wonderful club continues to thrive through the leadership of Mr. Kinman, Director of Curriculum and Social Science Department Chair.

Thank you to Jeanette Hernandez '19 and Angie Lara '19 for sharing this experience with us.

Empowering our Comets continues beyond the classroom thanks to our wonderful educators whose passion for teaching never stops. Thank you Ms. Ceccon and Mr. Kinman!

Phonathon 2017
Ph 2017_Day 1
Did you miss the call? Sacred Heart students and alumnae are trying to reach you! The Annual Phonathon for tuition assistance is an opportunity for "the girls of yesterday " to support "the girls of today !"

The Phonathon is a very special campaign that raises the much needed funds for tuition assistance. Students get to engage with alumnae who have walked the halls before them as well as share their own experiences. Thanks to the generosity of our alumnae, we raised nearly $30,000 last year. This year, our goal is to raise $40,000! We can do it! As enrollment continues to increase, so does the need. Every dollar counts and becomes an investment in Catholic education at Sacred Heart!

This year marks the 25th Anniversary of Phonathon from the corporate office of TELACU, which sponsors our evening calls. What a blessing!

Thank you to those of you who have sent in your contributions and to those who have made pledges. Our students are a good investment!

To invest in the education of a Comet today...

To participate in the empowerment of "Tomorrow's Catholic Woman" today:

Tomorrow's results are created by today's dreamers. Many people dream of a way to leave a legacy that would help Sacred Heart High School grow into the future. Some find that a good way to accomplish this goal is to designate Sacred Heart as the beneficiary of all or part of a retirement plan or life insurance policy. For further information, please contact Rachel Sanchez in the Office of Alumnae and Development at (323) 225-2209.
