Celebrating our 7 Millionth Meal!
Community Servings recently celebrated our 7 millionth meal! For  27 years we've prepared and delivered 7 million nutritious, made-from-scratch meals to our homebound neighbors suffering from critical and chronic illnesses.

Community Servings formed in 1990 as a response
to  the devastating HIV/AIDS crisis in the '80s and '90s.
Back then, we used a single van to deliver hot meals  to 30 clients in Roxbury and Dorchester everyday. Now,  a fleet of ten vans deliver a week's worth of frozen and chilled meals to 1,850 clients and families across 300 square miles.

We couldn't have accomplished this feat without the generous support of our partners, volunteers, and
donors. Thank you!

Our Nutritionists Say  "Start Small"
Given the vast amount of information on the web and TV, finding helpful nutrition advice can be a bit overwhelming. If you're looking to improve your diet, the #1 tip from our nutritionists is to take baby steps. " Start with small changes over time to improve your health. Think of each change as a 'win' as you create positive habits and build a healthy eating style," says Alison Gerber, MS, RD, LDN, Manager of Nutrition Services.

Follow us on Facebook and Twitter for tips throughout
the month!

Shakshuka: A Middle Eastern Staple
Shakshuka originated in North Africa and is a popular dish in many Middle Eastern countries. It's a versatile tomato and egg dish that can be eaten for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. We recommend pairing it with crusty whole wheat bread or challah bread.

Shakshuka is a featured recipe in our Farm to Fork
classes and is a dish that Alison, Manager of Nutrition Services, enjoys cooking at home.
