Climate Change and Athletes: How it Affects Us
In the last six days, Chicago has experienced unusually warm temperatures, and three of those days have broken records. As athletes, being able to run or bike outside in shorts and t-shirts in February is a dream come true, and I don't think many of us are complaining about this abnormality.

However, whenever there's bizarre weather, the debate of climate change typically follows; is this warm front a product of global warming? While many scientists say no, natural variances in weather are normal and happen periodically, 70-degree temps in what should be the middle of winter definitely raises reason for concern.

While endurance athletes are often subconsciously helping this issue by utilizing their legs or bicycles as means of transportation rather than cars and busses, they are also a population that is greatly affected by the weather changes. According to Climate Nexus, marathon times are typically two minutes slower for every 10-degrees the temperature rises.

Actually, the Boston Marathon has been noticing this for years; since 2011, it has had a team of atmospheric science students monitoring the weather during the race, and providing live weather reports. In 2012, it was 89 degrees during the late April race, way hotter than normal, and the winning female time was 2:31:50. Since 1893, Boston's average temperature has increased by an average of 0.15 degrees Celsius per year, and if this continues, a 2:30 may be the new norm, Runner's World reports

Fitpreneurs: Women Are Becoming Entrepreneurs Through Fitness
At 8:30 on a Tuesday morning, Dani Muckley is already teaching her second workout class of the morning at River North's Studio Three. Though this spin class will last only 45 minutes, she spent two hours choreographing moves and planning the music, logging each workout onto a PDF to ensure she doesn't repeat a song or sequence.

Muckley is an example of how Chicago's booming boutique fitness industry has become a breeding ground for female fitness professionals.

Some, like Muckley, obtain group fitness certifications and teach classes at one or several studios. Some have established their own studios, or opened new locations of franchises like Pure Barre or Corepower Yoga. Still more women have become personal trainers, launched online run coaching or strength training services or combined several of these "side hustles" into a career.

Powerbeats3 Wireless Headphones: Saying Goodbye to Chords Forever

On its website, it says that the battery lasts for 15 hours; since I've gotten the headphones, I've used them probably nine or 10 times for about an hour each, and when I checked the battery before my workout yesterday, it said the battery still had five and a half hours left. Plus, the website says that just a five-minute charge will give the headphones an additional hour of usage even on low battery.

I'm actually very surprised at how comfortable these are too, despite the in-ear style. In fact, the headphones came with six different bud sizes, to change the foam piece on the end depending on your ear shape and size. I chose the smallest one so it's not taking up my entire ear, and it's snug yet not annoying.

As for the sound, it really is the best sounding-headphones I've ever had. It's clear and loud if you turn up the volume all the way, but even then you can still hear things around you, which is really important for solo runners.
