Justin Whitaker

Occupation?   Director of Volunteer Engagement, United Way of Greater Chattanooga

How did you become involved with United Way Emerging Leaders?   I first became involved in Emerging Leaders when I was a Sponsored Loaned Executive at United Way.

What all organizations are you involved with around town?   In addition to Emerging Leaders and United Way.  I am on the board of DOVIA as the Membership Secretary.  I volunteer at YMCA, Partnership FCA, Battle Academy and volunteered as a youth soccer coach in college.

Interest outside of work?   Soccer, Golf, Kickball, Running, and Hiking.  Really anything and everything outdoors!

Additional  information for others to know:
After moving to Chattanooga 3 years ago I have absolutely fallen in love with the city.  Through the Emerging Leaders program I have been able to get to know Chattanooga as a city and some of the great young professionals and even many local business leaders.  It has allowed me to develop both personally and professionally!

Kickoff Recap
February 23 rd  we held our annual All Member Meeting to kick off 2017.  With a great turnout of over 60 people and powerful message from our keynote speaker, Dr. Elaine Swafford, it was one of the best events yet!  Dr. Swafford spoke about purposeful impact and figuring out what fuels/inspires you.  Her speech left everyone enthused and energized when it concluded.  Tyler Yount, the Emerging Leaders Chair, led the conversation before and after.  He spoke to the great impact Emerging Leaders have on our community and set bold goals to strive for in 2017 which are stated below.

2017 Goals:

-       Reach 440 members
-       Raise $65,000
-       Volunteer 2000 collective hours
Read Across Chattanooga
The booths are gone, the chairs put away.
Thank you so much for coming to play!

We hope you had fun and enjoyed your day
As we got to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday!

He is 60 years old, but still young at heart.
A lasting impression he's just begun to start.

We watched as children transformed in front of our faces
Into lions and tigers and fairies with braces.

The bookmarks were made, the hats were worn,
We even had a girl dressed up as a unicorn!

So thank you, again, for all that you do
Read Across Chattanooga only happened because of YOU!
Mentoring Partnership Highlight
We are partnering with Battle Academy to provide Mentors to their students. With only 20-30 minutes a week, you can choose from an array of activities to spend with your student including reading, games, or other educational exercises! It's crazy how 30 minutes can change a life!

If you would like to participate in this program, please fill out  this form .
