WHERE WE HAVE BEEN
Line Dancing at Arthur Murray Dance Studio: Nine ladies attended the February dance mingler. We sipped on wine and ate some hors d'oeuvre. Then it was out on the dance floor where the dance instructors (who were great by the way) taught us three different line dances. There was a little bit of everything, a little bit country, a little mambo / samba and a little jazz. It was unquestionably a fun night. See you all at the March Mingler at the Mallards Game.

BIG Area Events will need your help!
By: Denise Keim, Chapter President

In 2016, the PGA named the John Deere Classic the Tournament of the YEAR! Your participation in the tournament has helped the JDC earn such a prestigious award. As in years past, our chapter will again be marshalling hole #12 during the 2017 John Deere Classic.  Mark your calendar to get up close with the pros and help the JDC earn another PGA award: July 12-16, 2017. Volunteer registration will be available online beginning April 17th.

The board is very excited to announce that our chapter will be hosting the semi-finals for the EWGA Championship! This is a wonderful opportunity for us to meet and work alongside leadership from our national headquarters. Not to mention the home-field advantage for our EWGA Championship competitors! Semi-final competition will occur on Saturday, August 26th at Fyre Lake Golf Course in Sherrard. To make this event successful, we will need your help! Mark your calendar and let one of the board members know if you would be interested in helping us with this event. Additional details will be sent out as this event gets closer.
Golf Leagues & Education
by Caron Kraft- Golf Programs and Services Director

With our recent warm weather, it's hard not to think about the upcoming golf season!  League registration will begin in just a few weeks, so this is a good time to review how our leagues are structured.

The majority of our leagues are played weekly at the same course.  These include Duck Creek, Glynns Creek Fall, Golfmohr, Highland Springs, and Saukie leagues. The Glynns Creek Pairs league is played on alternating weeks.  We have made arrangements with each of these courses to reserve standing tee times each week, therefore these leagues count on your attendance for the season.  If you must miss a week, you are required to notify the league captain in advance. You pay your green fees to the course on a weekly basis with these leagues.

The Palmer Hills League is similar to the leagues listed above, but it is a prepaid league.  You will purchase a gift card for the amount of the green fees for 16 weeks.  You then use the gift card to pay the course each week.  This gift card may also be used for cart rental, or in their pro shop or restaurant.

We also have several drop-in leagues.  These are travel leagues that meet on Monday evenings, Wednesday mornings and Saturday mornings.  For these leagues you respond to the league captain's email for the dates and courses you intend to play.  You then pay your green fees to the course whenever you play.

Another popular league is the Partner's Challenge Match Play league.  In this league the matches are scheduled by mutual consent of the teams involved.  The fees are paid at each course as matches are played.  There is an initial fee of $30 per team, which is used for a prize fund and is payable when the teams register for the league.

We have made every attempt to meet the needs of golfers of every skill level, schedule and financial situation.  More information on the leagues will soon be available on our website. We hope you register for one or more of our league offerings.

Facebook-
EWGAQC has both a public Facebook page as well as a private Facebook group. If you're on Facebook, we recommend getting on to both of these. The public page will include posts from board members about upcoming activities, photos from recent events, links to recent newsletters, etc. To locate the public page, search for "EWGA Quad Cities Chapter" on Facebook and "like" the page.

The private group is meant as a way to easily communicate with other chapter members. Ask questions about an upcoming event, get a sub for your league, ask for course recommendations, etc. Please use this group for golf and social related conversations. To find this group search "EWGA QC Members" on Facebook and click on "join". Please allow 24 hours for an admin to verify membership and approve your request.
