Daylight Savings Time Is Back!!

Don't forget to turn your clocks AHEAD one hour this weekend! Daylight savings Time begins on Sunday, March 12!  
We lose an hour of sleep, but we will enjoy the longer days! This is also a perfect time to change the batteries in your smoke detectors and clean the vent in your dryer.

Just a Reminder -The DMV moved to Lake Zurich
Our office continues to  receive calls regarding the DMV closing.  You may not be aware the DMV in Libertyville closed.  The new Lake Zurich facility is now open at 951 S. Rand Road. (By Binny's) Please visit the Lake Zurich Facility Finder page for available services and hours of operation.

College Scholarship Opportunity
The Friends of Volo Bog is offering an Entering College scholarship and a Continuing College scholarship for $1,000 each to outstanding students interested in pursuing an environmental career. Early Voting Begins March 20
Click here to order a ballot by mail.  Ballots will be mailed on March 20 for those wanting to vote by mail. Early voting also begins on March 20.

Mundies Undies Collection for Pads
When it comes to clothing donations, one of the greatest needs and most overlooked items in homeless shelters is underwear. We often take for granted the quiet dignity one gets from having clean underwear. 

Mundies Undies is a drive for new unopened packs of underwear and is sponsored by the Mundelein Church of the Nazarene and the Mundelein Police Department. They have drop off bins at their locations and you may also drop underwear donations at Fremont Township. The donations will go to PADS and The Midwest Veterans Closet. Click here for more information.

Food Pantry Needs
Many of you ask about our food pantry needs  We are currently low on mayonnaise, cereal, pancake mix and syrup, sloppy joe mix, taco shells, and side dishes.
Substance Abuse Program
“A Way Out” is a Lake County, Illinois Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion pilot program, designed to fast-track users to substance abuse programs and services. This program is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at participating police departments across Lake County and ensures no criminal charges will be sought for those that may be in possession of narcotics or paraphernalia, as long as assistance is sought out by the prospective program participant. Green Living Fair
Green Living Fair – 2017 The 2017 Green Living Fair will be held on Saturday, March 18 from 10 A.M. to 2 P.M. at the Libertyville Civic Center, 135 W. Church St. in Libertyville, IL. Admission is FREE! Click here for more information

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about earth-healthy daily routines from the 40+ exhibitors featuring local environmental groups, businesses and youth clubs.  There will also be continuous 30 minute Speaker Forums addressing today’s environmental challenges. No Goods or Services will be sold directly at the fair.

 Citizens Fire Academy Class
Mundelein Fire Department will  host the spring 2017 Citizens’ Fire Academy class starting on March 27, 2017. The nine-week class is held on Monday nights. Citizens will gain first-hand knowledge of the training required to become a firefighter. The Citizens’ Fire Academy includes hands-on experience with the fire hose, self-contained breathing apparatus, search and rescue, CPR and fire extinguisher training. The class provides a thorough overview of a firefighter’s job. Kirk Players Stages The Lions, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Kirk Players will present its spring production, the C.S. Lewis enchanting classic, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, adapted by Joseph Robinette, on Friday, March 31 @7pm at Mundelein High School Theatre. The group will offer additional performances of the popular children’s story about Narnia, the land beyond the wardrobe, on Saturday, April 1 at 2pm and 7pm and Sunday, April 2 @ 2pm.
AARP Defensive Driving Course at Fremont Township

We still have spots open.  The AARP Defensive Driving Course will be held on May 11 and May 12 from 9:00 am til 1:00 pm. You must attend both days.  Call Nancy at 847 223-2847 to register. $15.00 for AARP members and $20.00 for non AARP members.

Lunch and Learn -Common Crimes That Target Seniors

There are so many scams and crimes targeting our seniors now. Charity Scam, Spoofing Scams, Grand Parent Scams, Internet Safety and Ruse Burglaries will be discussed. Please consider joining us to learn about these crimes and how to protect yourself against them on Tuesday, July 18th at 12 pm in the lower level of our Fremont Township Office.  Lunch is provided and an $8 donation is requested. Forty-year Fremont Township resident Mary Ann Beatty, and her sister, international opera star Joanna Porackova, will soon be giving the Chicago-area performances of their concert series "TOGETHER AT LAST--Sisters in Life, Sisters in Song":

These concerts in Chicago, Boston, New York and northern Indiana, mark the first time that these two women have ever sung together as adults.  Music will include beloved duets, arias, and songs from the Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary Periods of Music.  Mark your calendars now and join the sisters in their celebration of the gift of music.
Community Room Available at Fremont Township

Bridge meets on Mondays, but our community room is available for Fremont Township  groups to meet.  We have ten card tables and chairs, so if you want canasta, mahjong, pinochle or other games offered, you bring the people and we will provide the space.  Call Nancy at 847 223-2847 for availability. Our room is used heavily by the scouts and homeowner groups after school and evenings, but we want you to feel welcome to use it for your groups.

What Am I Able To Recycle at Fremont Township?
Pillows are not accepted!

If you have used towels, sheets or blankets that need to be recycled, please consider bringing them to Fremont Township at 22385 Rt 60, Mundelein to be donated to local Animal Shelters and Rescues.  You may drop them in the bin on the front porch. This keeps them out of the landfill and puts them to good use.  

 


Fremont Township recycles shoes year round.  You will find a bin on our front porch.  If you are disposing of shoes that have laces, please tie the laces together.  

We also accept eyeglasses.

 Diaper Drive for Fremont Township
We accept diaper donations for children and adults. If you have diapers you are no longer in need of, please consider donating them to Fremont Township. We do accept open bags.
