February 2017

The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has released maps showing where the combined and separate sewer systems are for each of the 21 CSO cities in the state.

People who live, work, and play in any of these cities can now find out if they contribute directly to  combined sewer overflows

Below: The area shown in blue is served by Newark's antiquated sewer system, which treats stormwater and wastewater together and can discharge raw untreated sewage during wet weather events.   The area shown is yellow is served by the more modern system which treats stormwater and wastewater separately.
