Dear Holy Name Families,
What a busy weekend we had! Thank you to our 7th and 8th grade parents for sending your children to our first
7th and 8th Grade Social/ Dance. It was a fabulous night, and the students were absolutely wonderful. Congratulations to our second graders who received their
First Communion/ Special Blessing. It was such a beautiful and special celebration! Finally, thank you to our first graders who hosted our
family mass last Sunday.
A big thank you to our
Parent Guild Board for a wonderful General Parent Guild Meeting last week centered around community!
LENT AND SCHOOL-WIDE LEARNING EXPECTATIONS
Tomorrow we will begin our
Lenten Season
with our Ash Wednesday Mass at 9AM. Please note that this mass will be in place of our regular Thursday mass and students should be in full uniform. As we begin our Lenten journey we will place a special emphasis each morning on praying for a certain group or individual each day of Lent. Additionally, students will have daily Lenten reflections in religion class that encourage them to do something special/ make a sacrifice each day. We will be holding a food drive throughout Lent- please bring in cans and non-perishable items. Please be sure to check expiration dates of food items. As a faculty we will be participating in the Best Lent Ever Program which consists of daily reflection videos, and we encourage our parent community to join us. You can sign up for daily emails here. If you are would like to explore new activities to do with your child during Lent, please click here for 40 Lenten Activities for Families.
Some of you may have noticed that we are placing greater emphasis on our School-wide Learning Expectations (SLEs). Each Monday we are focusing on a SLE of the Week which will be reinforced in the classrooms though out the week. The SLE of the week is Self Respecting- Take Responsibility for your Actions. We are excited as we begin to explore new ways to meaningfully teach our SLEs to our students. You can click here for our SLEs.

SCHOOL AND CLASSROOM UPDATES
We are very excited that we have installed a SmartBoard in our kindergarten classroom. The students are very excited about there "magic" board! We have recently purchased new chairs and desks for 2nd grade as well as new chairs for 4th and 5th grade. We anticipate that these new classroom tools will be here before our Easter break. We will be selling our old desks for $25 each, and our chairs for $5. If you are interested in purchasing one so that your child has a study place at home, please click here and write your name and the items you would like to purchase. Please note that the desks have adjustable legs and could easily accommodate students from K-4 and potentially 5th-8th depending on your child's height. All families who fill out the form will be contacted with more information once we know the date that we should be receiving these new items.
Thank you so much for your continued support of the school and teachers! Enjoy your evening!
Thanks,
Natalie Cirigliano, Principal
