2016 Anza PTA Pledge & Membership Drive

This year we are combining the Pledge Drive (formerly known as Direct Donation) and Membership Drive so that we can make it easier on everyone by requiring a single form and allowing people to write a single check.  It is a slightly different form from last year so please read carefully and reach out to PTA Volunteer Pledge and Membership Chair, Keith Herbers at anzadirectdonation@gmail.com if you have any questions at all.
SCHOOL NEWS: GATE TESTING FOR THIRD GRADE COMING SOON!
ATTEN: PARENTS OF 3RD GRADE STUDENTS

Universal third grade GATE testing will take place at each school site between October and December. A parent notification with testing details and schedule will be sent home with students on September 19th.  Anza's test date is scheduled to be on November 21st. An electronic copy of the parent notification will also be available on our school website. No form or application for participation in third grade GATE testing is necessary.

If you choose to withdraw your student from GATE testing, you will need to complete and sign a Withdraw from GATE Testing Form (on the reverse side of the parent notification) and return it to your student's teacher by October 3rd.

More information regarding GATE testing for grades 4 and 5 will be coming at a later date.

SAFETY BULLETIN: WALKING TO AND FROM SCHOOL

Safety Bulletin: Walking to and from school
Dear Anza Parent and Guardian:
The safety and welfare of our students is always our highest priority at Anza Elementary School. Occasionally we get reports from around the community of students encountering a suspicious person or vehicle when walking to or from school. As the school year winds down, we want to take this opportunity to remind parents to talk to their child about safely walking to and from school.
Here are a few recommendations to share with your kids:
  1. Walk with a friend or in groups when possible
  2. Be aware of your surroundings
  3. Report any suspicious person(s) to an adult immediately
  4. Pick a route with your child and make sure they stick to it
  5. Be careful near traffic and obey all traffic laws (cross the street at crosswalks)

Walking is fun, but students need to be safe while doing it.  Please remind students to follow these tips to make sure they get to and from school without incident.
Sincerely,
Barbara Marks
Principal
