Local Food Expo a Big Success

Thanks to the over 200 community members that attended our 2nd Annual Local Food Expo! Nearly 30 different food vendors and local food organizations came

The   Wisconsin Potato Growers Association Spudmobile exhibit  was featured and offerings from Chef C's Munchie Mobile food truck were enjoyed. Pictures from the event can be found on Facebook.

Garden Registration is Open!

Marshfield area residents can now register for garden beds at Marshfield Clinic and Healthy Lifestyles-Marshfield Area Coalition's Growing Together Community Gardens.

garden and grow their own produce. Garden beds are available at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (includes handicap accessible beds),  St. Alban's Ministry Center, and First Presbyterian Church. No gardening experience is necessary.  A one-hour orientation session is provided for all new gardeners. Gardeners are encouraged to make a $15 donation to help support the community gardens. Gardening with the Healthy Lifestyles Coalition also provides access to a bi-weekly newsletter with insider garden tips and recipes tailored to the growing season, as well as opportunities to be mentored by a UW-Extension Master Gardener. Marshfield Clinic and Healthy Lifestyles-Marshfield Area Coalition,  with the  assistance of the Marshfield Police Auxiliary, and The Sports Den will be holding a  Bike Rodeo at t he  Marshfield Children's Festival on April 8, from  9:30-1:30 at Marshfield High School (1401 E. Becker Road, Marshfield, WI 54449). Children are invited to bring their bike to our bike rodeo course where they can get a bicycle inspection and learn the rules of the road.   

Spring months bring asparagus, broccoli, radishes, swiss chard, and turnips. What to do with these veggies?  Here are some ideas:
 
These are just some suggestions! Try a fun challenge and pick up some seasonal produce that you haven't cooked with before. Who knows, it might just become your new favorite vegetable!
