The City of Marion's Open for Business program is here to support business community to:
  • Be your first point of contact at Council
  • Provide local business support services through business associations, the Tonsley Small Business Advisory Service and the Southern Adelaide Business Support System
  • Help you connect with local businesses, skilled people, associations and training providers
  • Offer networking, information and education
  • Help deliver local initiatives such as Southern Adelaide Economic Development Board, Visitor Economy, Digital literacy projects and Workforce Development
  • Help activate the Cove Business Hub and Tonsley Innovation District, and
  • Advocate on regional issues.

This month our theme is about the importance of social inclusion.

Interested in learning about inclusive leadership?
'The six signature traits of inclusive leadership: Thriving in a diverse new world' identifies six traits that characterize an inclusive mind-set and inclusive behaviour.

This report is intended to help leaders think about how traditional notions of leadership can change. This publication was written by Bernadette Dillon a client director in Human Capital consulting at Deloitte, where she specializes in diversity and inclusion, and Juliet Bourke a partner in Human Capital consulting at Deloitte, where she leads the Australian Diversity and Inclusion practice and co-leads the Australian Leadership practice.

For more information about the six signature traits of inclusive leadership, you can read the paper here.

Company Hub supporting young entrepreneurs

Local business owners  Brad  and Gaylene Clark of  Company Hub , a family business focusing on web and marketing solutions, recently hosted student, Rowan Muller, through the Flinders University 'Work Integrated Learning ' program for two days a week over three months.  He studied a Bachelor of Business (Marketing), focusing on Social Media and Digital marketing. Rowan was able to gain invaluable experience, particularly allowing him to have exposure to branding, client relationship management, and social media strategy development at a professional level.

Since leaving the industry placement program, Rowan has now graduated and established his own business - Topia Marketing - already acquiring international clients.  Brad and Gaylene now work alongside Topia Marketing to solidify the strength of their own business, while acting as mentors to the young entrepreneur in his own ventures away from Company Hub.

Socially Inclusive Design
The City of Marion is home to a socially inclusive design and printing studio - Inprint Design . A business unit of Minda's SA Group Enterprises, Inprint Design provides meaningful work opportunities to 27 supported employees, delivering outcomes to Government, not-for-profit and corporate sectors.

In a socially inclusive community, residents have opportunities to participate fully in the social, economic and cultural life of their community. Social inclusion policies facilitate access to employment, education, health, housing and democratic processes. These socially inclusive policies create health and wellbeing for individuals by creating a supportive community (Ferrie, 2008).

For more information about Inprint contact Monique Russell on phone 7325 3200.
