Dr. Manno at PRES
BCSD Superintendent Dr. Christopher Manno will be at PRES on
Tuesday, March 7 at 7pm to share his views of the district and upcoming budget discussions and to hear from our community. All are welcome, please plan to come and bring a friend!

We will also have a quick vote to formally put the PTA Nominating Committee in place for elections to be held later this spring. Current board members Janelle Coppola and Karen Kunz will be joined by Toni Dooley to put together a slate of PTA officers for the 2017-18 school year.
Important Message From PTA Board
Thank you to everyone who has already signed a letter or sent an email asking for an increase in state aid for our district.

We have heard from our local legislators that it would be helpful to reach out to more Albany lawmakers. Even if you have already sent an email, please do so again so it reaches all the decision makers.  Click here  today.

To learn more about advocacy efforts, please see the BCSD website here

Thank you!
Ask Your First Grader...
PRES first graders were visited by a scientist from High Touch High Tech.  They learned about the habitats of different animals, and created their own bird's nests.
This program was sponsored by the PTA Arts and Sciences Enrichment Committee
Fifth Graders Get to the Heart of the Matter!
Fifth graders got a hands-on look this week at real bovine hearts, kidneys, and other organs as part of the High Touch-High Tech "Globs, Goo and Guts" program. Ask your fifth grader what their heart sounds like!
This program sponsored by the PTA Arts and Sciences Enrichment Committee.
Staff Appreciation Luncheon

Science Fair
PRES Science Fair: Wed, March 22nd 6-8pm
Calling on all PRES Future Scientists!  The PRES Science Fair is coming.
Attached here is the registration form/regulations for participating in the 2017 PRES Science Fair.
All grades K-5 are welcome to participate.
Deadline for registration is Friday, March 10th.
Please submit your registration forms to your teacher.
Students are welcome to participate alone or in small groups.
If you have any questions, or would like to help with setup/breakdown, check-in, please contact Stacey Cleveland.  We are in need of about 5 volunteers to help with this year's Science Fair.
Book Drive
Ready for a head start on spring cleaning?  Join the First Annual Book Drive of the Foundation for Bedford Central Schools.  Donate your new or gently used books to the K-8 teachers to help them fill their classroom libraries!
New books are sometimes needed to support curriculum changes and to replace worn books.  Help our professionals teach our kids to love reading by giving them books your family has outgrown.
The Book Drive runs from March 1st through March 31st.  Books may be brought to any of the district schools - just look for the handy box.  For a list of other locations around town, please click here. In case you are wondering if your books fit into the K-8 spectrum,  here is a link to books organized by grade level.  If you choose to buy any new books, please remember our own local bookstore, Booksy Galore in Pound Ridge.
Thank you for your support!
