USF Homecoming event discusses prevention of white-collar crime

Walt Pavlo, the keynote speaker for the Muma College of Business homecoming speaker series on Oct.10, challenged the audience to examine their own professional ethics and deter crime. SunTrust CEO dispenses financial, life wisdom to USF students


Bill Rogers' philosophy for having an enjoyable and fulfilling career is a simple one: do whatever you do with purpose. The CEO of Atlanta-based SunTrust bank says that banks have gotten a bad rap for being part of the problems the U.S. faces: debt, the housing crisis, and Wall Street greed. But when he wakes up in the morning, Rogers said he sees his bank as being part of the solutions to those problems. Read more.

Business students inspire middle-schoolers on Diploma-See Day

Students studying at the USF Muma College of Business have already learned the importance of staying in school and succeeding in their pre-college studies. But high-risk students in middle school and high school may not have that same knowledge or hope. Read more.

 

Entrepreneurship Director Michael Fountain receives Excellence in Innovation Award

He was recognized for his pioneering work in the field of micro- and nano-lipid encapsulation technologies for commercial applications, for bringing two landmark liposomal products to the market, and for his role in launching the USF Student Innovation Incubator and providing business and technical guidance to startup companies. Alumni Notes 
  • Tony La Russa ('69, Management) was hired as the Chief Baseball Officer by the Arizona Diamondbacks. La Russa, who was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, is a three-time World Series champion and has 33 years of baseball management experience.
  • Tiffany Ingram ('09, Marketing) was hired as branch manager of Synovus Bank, one of the largest community banks in the southeast.

  • Graduate Academic Advisor Stacee Bender received the 2014 Muma College of Business Performance Bonus Award.
  • Undergraduate Advising Office Manager Janice Forman sadly passed away this month after a battle with cancer. Thanks to Undergraduate Advising for their support of Janice and her family, and for helping to host her memorial service on-campus. 
  • Melony Herron joined the dean's office as office manager. She replaces Jennifer Morgan, who has moved into a development specialist role in the dean's office.
