Mark your calendars:
    Cape Coral Art to host March 14 general meeting;
April 11 Luncheon/Installation set for Kelly Greens

The March 14 general meeting
. . . of the Art Council of Southwest Florida will be hosted by the Cape Coral Art League (516 Cultural Park Blvd), with social networking beginning at 9:30 a.m., business meeting at 10 a.m. The social portion of the meeting will feature breakfast casseroles, bagels and choice of coffee, juice or water.

The Council's by-laws call for the election of officers (President, Treasurer, and Secretary) at the March meeting. The current officers -- if willing to continue their service, and there are no additional nominees to these positions -- will remain in place. Again, if you have other nominees for these positions, send to [email protected] . Nominations will also be accepted from the floor at the March meeting.

The speaker at the meeting will be Ann Dalton, attorney for the Art Council, discussing issues of art and the law.

The April 11 luncheon/installation meeting
. . . of the Art Council will be held at Kelly Greens (12300 Kelly Greens Blvd.) in Fort Myers. That location was selected to provide the easiest travel for the most members (to entice as many as possible to this final meeting of the season), beginning at 12 noon.

And for real excitement:   a door prize and art work raffle.

This meeting will feature installation of officers, a review the year's Art Council activities and plans for the coming months.

Cost of the luncheon is $25, to be paid at the door. When closer to the date, we will be seeking RSVP responses to plan room selection (all looking over the Kelly Greens golf course) and seating arrangements.

So, mark your calendars for these final two meetings of the "in- season" season to meet with your fellow artists and craftspeople who are members of our Art Council affiliates.

Reminder:
Delegates, please remind your artists who participated in the Winners' Circle Show at the Naples Art Association that pickup times are today, March 5, 12 noon-2 p.m. and tomorrow, March 6, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
And congratulate them for participating in this great demonstration of Southwest Florida creativity.

Bravo!
Ursula Capeletti was once again a rapid responder to our second Quick Quiz, identifying Belgium painter R. Magritte as the answer. Better known as just Magritte, he specialized in putting common objects in unusual - and usually impossible - places, frequently invoking the impossibilities found in dreams.

Quick Quiz No. 3
For this one, just a single clue:  who is the painter whose work is most often found on the $1 bill?

ACSWF.org in the news
   Website getting winter brush-up

A variety of changes -- and intended improvements -- have been added to the website of the Arts Council of Southwest Florida:  please check out acswf.org.

Additions include a list of winners at the 2017 Winners' Circle Exhibit, links to our recent email newsletters covering ongoing Art Council activities, and links to the websites of 15 of the 16 Art Council affiliate members.

We'll also be adding information that can be used as a quick reference to basic Co-operative Art Gallery activities:  upcoming receiving and reception dates, an updated schedule for gallery "sitters," and, as it develops, other information concerning new gallery features and details complementing the gallery's annual Prospectus found on the website.

Just to note:  acswf.org is a website "work in progress," and we're asking your help to make it as useful as possible for council's members. Send any and all suggestions to [email protected].

Besides taking a peek at this refurbishing yourself, please encourage others -- particularly new artists coming to our affiliate organizations -- to go online to learn about the Art Council of Southwest Florida and how it benefits both its affiliate members and individual artists.
