Friday Facts

First Day of Bargaining was Friday,
March 3rd!

And so it begins....the KEA Bargaining Team met with the KSD Bargaining Team last Friday. Ground rules were established, and future dates for bargaining have been set. Both sides have agreed to meet twice a month through June to exchange proposals and work to reach agreements. Additional time will be added during the summer for the purpose of reaching a tentative agreement.

The KEA Bargaining Team has read every comment written on the bargaining survey. Using the comments on both the survey and listening sessions, it is clear what KEA members' priorities are. We will now begin writing proposals that address our key issues. Our goal is to continue to improve our working conditions so that Kent is a great place to live, work, and learn.

Making Up Our Snow Days!

It has been determined by our district that the three snow make up days will be attached to the end of the year. As a result, the last day of school will fall on Tuesday, June 27th. Seniors will be asked to come back to school for two days after graduation to meet the attendance requirements. Students will not be attending classes, instead they will attend principal-supervised activities.

In addition, principals have been instructed to work with KEA members who had plans arranged before the snow days that would impact attendance on the last days of school. If your principal denies your ability to take leave, please contact Christie Padilla or Alan Sutliff at the KEA office.
