Sri Shirdi Sai Baba Temple of Austin
Sri Venkateswara Temple of Austin
"Serving hands are dearer to God than praying lips"
Dear Friends,
Namaste! This Mahakumbhabhishekam starts Friday!
Highlights
of the event will include:
The havans! This is the only Temple event where devotees can sit with their families around the havan fire and make offerings. Special havans include Ganapati havan Friday at 4:00 pm (very popular), followed by Chandi Havan; Sudarshana Havan Saturday morning at 9:00 am; and Mahalakshmi havan followed by Rudra havan starting at 3:00 pm on Saturday.
Raising the Dwajastambham (Flagpole)! 11:30 am Saturday. In my life, I have seen the installation of so many idols. But I have never seen the raising of a flagpole. For many, this will be a once in a lifetime event. The Dwajasthambam will be a symbol of pride for all those who helped build the Temple, and for generations of Hindus.
Naga Pratishta! 11:45 am Saturday. No Temple is complete without the Naga shrine. Naga is associated with Subramanya. Childless couples worship at the Naga shrine for having good children.

The Santhi Kalyanams!
Sunday, 12:30 pm. Kalyanam is the symbolic marriage of the manifest universe with the unmanifest paraBrahman. They take us on the journey from our own individual self (jiva) to our universal Self (Atman). The kalyanams bring participants great peace of mind. Five kalyanams will be performed simultaneously in the Temple for Sri Venkateswara, Sri Shiva Parvati, Sri Sita Rama, Rukmini, and Sri Subramanya.
Many other events are listed below. Volunteer devotees are making delicious prasad meals so everyone can relax and enjoy the event. This is a truly historic event.
Visit MAHAKUMBHABHISHEKAM to participate. If you cannot attend, but want to participate, sponsor Navaratnas (nine gems) to be put under an idol or the Dwajasthambam. The navaratnas will bring good energy to the Temple for as long as it exists. Visit NAVARATNAS. Starts this Friday!
With loving regards,
Craig Sastry, President, Board of Directors
