Get to Know Your Committee Members:
We began introducing our new Zone 5 Committee Members last month and continue this month! They are already working hard for the zone. Take a minute to get to know them, and stay tuned for more introductions next month.

Heather Pinnick
Heather, of Hamilton, Ohio, is the director of riding and head coach for Miami University Equestrian. She's been involved in the sport since she was a child. As a committee member she wants to help increase affiliate awareness in the zone and increase participation in the zone. Her other hobbies include spending time with her children and gardening. If she could have dinner with any equestrian, she would choose Bert de Nemethy.

Elaine Schott
Elaine, of Versailles, Kentucky, has been involved with horses for 40 years. Transitioning from eventing to hunters and jumpers, she is now a USHJA Certified Trainer and owns River Mountain Farm. She also has experience in the Thoroughbred sales industry. She has been involved with several committees including the Horsemanship Quiz Challenge Committee and was former president of the Kentucky Hunter Jumper Association. Her other hobbies include photography and watching her son play polo.

George "Skip" Thornbury
Skip, of Goshen, Ohio, has been involved with the sport for 35 years. He is a professional, judge and serves on several committees including serving on the board of directors for both USHJA and USEF. As a zone committee member, he would like to work toward making Zone 5 be the best that it can be.

Stay tuned for more committee member introductions in next month's eNews. For more information about the Zone 5 Committee, click here

When Zone 5's Debbie Bass purchased Truman (Arpeggio----- Roxana), a bay Westphalian gelding, he wasn't the horse she was looking to buy, but she recognized his talent immediately.

"I'm just so incredibly lucky to be associated with him," said Bass. "I was looking for an experienced derby horse, and then I got the call [about him]... I'm so fortunate."

On February 18, the USHJA World Championship Hunter Rider Program recognized his tremendous achievements and talent with the title of 2016 WCHR Hunter of the Year, the recipient of the Peter Wetherill Cup, during the $100,000 WCHR Peter Wetherill Palm Beach Hunter Spectacular. Read more.
