RE Committee Needs Your Help!

We need your assistance in leading our children and youth. The RE table is full of sign up sheets for opportunities to volunteer this summer. We are looking for UUs for both our Summer RE program and Summer Camp. The summer stories center on tolerance and connect to our racial justice theme. The summer camp is a trip around the world that will follow our UU principles and will be filled with fun daily activities. Sign up today to be a part of the excitement.
Considering being a RE teacher?

Our classes for the fall offer two brand new classes, The Rainbow Connection for pre-school and Harry Potter and UU for 4th - 5th graders, that centers on social action. Tradition in a Wink is a tween version of Coming of Age, join the young youth for an exciting journey. Please consider joining our RE teaching team and still be able to go to worship!

A group to advocate for Aid-in-Dying legislation in the state of Illinois is being formed at church. If you are interested in being a part of this group, please contact Karen Retzer. Information about this type of legislation can be found at FinalOptionsIllinois.org and compassionandchoices.org. Our first meeting will take place either the last week of March or in April.
It's time to register for General Assembly!  Each year in the fourth week of June several thousand UUs gather for the General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations (UUA).  It is a grand time, including the annual business meetings of  the denomination, many workshops, music, conversations and overall a great party.  Most of the programming is for the lay members. This year, with the site of New Orleans and a contested election for the office of President of the UUA (three excellent candidates, all female!), it looks to be an especially large gathering

Registration and hotel reservation opened on March 1! All details are available on the UUA web site.

Join with other UUs in signing the "Declaration of Conscience", a joint effort by the Unitarian Universalist Association and the UU Service Committee. This is a document of resistance "declaring our commitment to translate our values into action as we stand on the side of love with the most vulnerable among us."

You can sign on-line HERE or sign up at the Social Action table at church and we will complete the sign up for you.

Many of us have already added our names to this document. Will you join us?

LOVE INTO ACTION

If you have not yet prepared a pledge for the coming year, please do it online or deliver it to the church by this coming Monday, March 13th. The budget for the coming year is being drafted and the committee needs realistic numbers.

To pledge online, go to uucuc.org/give and click the link "online pledge form" and fill out the form, click submit when you are done. If you would like help with online sign-up, come to the Hub table this Sunday, or email Steve Troyer at sgtroyer@gmail.com or call (970) 449-2065.

Paper-based sign-up is welcome, too, of course. Forms are available at the Hub table, and you should have received one in the mail, if you pledged last year.

GREEN UUs - SOLAR PANEL UPDATE

Construction has started on the 25 kW solar array on the Fellowship Hall roof that will help offset 70% of our electricity. The major work should take about 4 days and we hope to have it energized before the Spring equinox. Look for updates on an upcoming ribbon cutting. T he same installer will then move over to a similar array on top of McKinley Foundation on campus. A similar power purchase agreement (PPA) to what we have set up is also being used by McKinley, UU Peoria, and UU Hindsdale. Thanks to everyone who helped make this possible. Check out the Members & Friends facebook page for more photos!
