Marine Art Contest is open
The annual MME Marine Art Contest is now underway, and the theme for this year is "Exploring the Marine Biodiversity of Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary."
There are five contest divisions: K-4, 5-8, 9-12, scientific illustration, and computer graphics.
Winning entries will be posted on the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary website (
http://stellwagen.noaa.gov), as well as used by the sanctuary and MME in their outreach programs. Notification and certificates will be sent to the participating teachers or individual students at their schools.

Each year, MME recognizes the exemplary contributions of colleagues working to advance marine education in Massachusetts through the presentation of several awards at its Annual Meeting. There are four categories of awards:

- MME Certificate of Appreciation

available here. The theme for this edition is marine protected areas.
Submissions are now being accepted for the Summer edition, which will focus on lighthouses of New England.

Join the Boston Sea Rovers for this fantastic event, which runs March 10-12
Educator Workshop on the Boston Harbor Habitat Atlas
- The Museum of Science, Northeastern University, and the Encyclopedia of Life are hosting a free half-day workshop on March 18 to introduce a digital resource, the Boston Harbor Habitat Atlas, and to get educator feedback on its most effective use in the classroom. NEAq Educator Workshops - The New England Aquarium is offering workshops for educators during February school vacation week, as well as on a series of Saturdays throughout the spring. 2017 Bow Seat Competitions are Open
- There are two programs this year: 1) Bow Seat's annual Ocean Awareness Student Contest with the theme of "Ocean Pollution: Challenges & Solutions," and 2) the new
Marine Debris Creative Advocacy Competition, which

Community Boat Building is now accepting applications for students ages 7-14 for summer programming at its facility near Fort Point Channel in Boston. Click here for more information.
The Northeastern University Marine Science Center is marine mosaic art program for middle and high school students during April school vacation week.
It is also offering its annual Coastal Ocean Science Academy this summer for which scholarships and shuttle service from Ruggles, Wonderland, and Lynn MBTA stations are available.
