Easter Egg Donations and Butterfly Release
March 19th - April 9th: Jarvis Children's Ministries will be accepting donations for Easter eggs and Easter egg candy for our April 15th Easter egg hunt! Please no chocolate, nutty candies, peanut butter candies, or money as egg-fillers. Other candy, stickers, and small toys are welcome! Donations can be left in the hall of history on Sunday or at the business office during the week.

On April 16th, we will be releasing butterflies on the church lawn during the Sunday school hour. Caterpillars will be given out (one per family!) on Sunday, April 2nd during Sunday school. Children can also come by Rev. Caitlin Proctor's office to get a caterpillar. Children will be given caterpillar food and instructions for care. Butterflies will be brought back Easter morning, reminding us in their emergence as new creatures that Christ has conquered death and through him we can all be new creations!
"Lets give up and give away"
During the season of Lent, Rev. Caitlin Proctor is asking the children of the church (and everyone else, too!) to bring in toiletry items that can be donated to our local homeless shelter. Clothing donations are not accepted by the shelter! All donations can be put in one of the baskets at the back of the sanctuary or TCLC!

Pastor's Reading Circle
The next gathering of the Pastor's Reading Circle will be on Sunday, March 26 from 6:00 - 7:30 pm in the Conference Room. This month's selection is, Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance.  Mr. Vance was raised in Middletown, Ohio, a now-decaying steel town filled with (mostly) Kentucky transplants. Never is J.D.  Vance more aware of pessimism and estrangement than when he leaves for Ohio State University. He's plumped with hope; his neighbors, left behind, feel its opposite. "There was something almost spiritual," he writes, "about the cynicism of the community at large. His friends and relations are convinced that the media lies. That politicians lie. That the military, an institution they revere, is fighting two fruitless wars. Universities feel "rigged" and inaccessible; job prospects are slim. For what purpose do you live under such circumstances? When the stanchions of your life have sunk into the muck? Mr. Vance doesn't have all the answers. But he's advancing the conversation.

Join us on March 26 as we take up this conversation with him. Simply purchase the book in your favorite format, read it ahead of time, and come prepared to share about it with friends.
Jarvis Older Youth Club
The April meeting of the JOY Club (Jarvis Older Youth) will be held in the Douglas Flex-Space in the Taft Christian Life Center on Monday, April 3, at 12:15 p.m. A delicious luncheon will be served by Chef James Edu, and the program will be given by Bob Garner. Piratefest 2017
Pirate Fest will return for its 11th annual festival this spring in Greenville's Uptown district.  Jarvis UMC will host a booth in Town Commons on Saturday April 8, 2017.  This will be a great opportunity for the Jarvis family to shower our community with radical hospitality.  We will have the opportunity to display love for our community and love for our neighbors.  Most importantly we will be able to share the love of Jesus Christ with our community.  We will need volunteers of all ages to make this event a success.  From a set up team to a take down team each one of you are needed.  Our goal is to have 4 volunteers work 2 hour blocks of time covering the all day event.  During the event we will have balloons to distribute, a prayer box with card to complete, and a children's craft.  For more information please feel free to contact Pam Cope at  [email protected] or Leanne Coore at  [email protected].
