Honoring a Legacy of Inclusiveness

Dallastown Area High School senior Anna Herr was awarded the 2017  Dr. Frederick D. Holliday Award presented by the City of York Human Relations Commission.

Dr. Holliday was the first African American superintendent for the York City School District. This annual award of the Commission honors people in the York community for their work in promoting diversity, equality, and non-violence.

High school Science teacher Lori Riddle nominated Anna for the award.
The Scientists Among Us

A tradition for 56 years, the Dallastown Area High School Science and Engineering Fair will be held Saturday, January 28th, and Sunday, January 29th, in the science wing of the high school.

The public is invited to view more than 100 student submissions on Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. An awards ceremony will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday in the high school auditorium.

Dallastown Area High School students have a long history of county awards and opportunities to compete at the International Science and Engineering Fair based on their award-winning projects at the school level. We encourage community members to join us--surely you will be impressed with the creativity and scientific knowledge that the student projects display.
What Will I Be When I Grow Up?

Career preparation is an important part of a student's scholastic experience, which is why Dallastown Area School District integrates career awareness into academic programs beginning in the earliest grades of school. Students select Career Pathways through which they explore and prepare for future careers. Additionally, a wide range of programs are available for students to increase their employability skills, interview techniques, resume preparation, mentoring and shadowing with community businesses, and much more.

Beginning Tuesday, January 31st through Friday, February 3rd, Dallastown Area Middle School will host its annual Career Week, with more than 50 business representatives speaking to students and providing information about a wide variety of careers in York County. This information is helpful to students as they make course selections in their Career Pathways throughout high school.
Inspiring Students

Dallastown Senior Kali Nyland will compete in the regional Poetry Out Loud competition at the Majestic Theater in Gettysburg, PA, on Thursday, February 2nd, at 7:00 p.m. The public is invited to this free event.

Poetry Out Loud is a tiered national recitation competition sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation that encourages students to learn about great poetry through memorization and oral interpretation.
