March 2017

Greetings,

We invite you to an important community discussion March 23rd - "Aging with Gusto."
"Aging with Gusto," a program of the Vital Aging Network, provides opportunities for people to examine their views about aging with the goal of changing the narrative. One study indicates that people with positive self-perceptions as they age live, on average, seven and a half years longer (Levy et al., 2002).

We'll participate in three interactive and engaging discussions, with a combination of large group and small group activities. Please find additional details under Upcoming Events.

March is National Nutrition month! National Nutrition Month® is a nutrition education and information campaign created annually in March by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.  This year's theme is - Put Your Best Fork Forward. Please visit our Resource Corner for more information.

Hope to see you soon!

Nutrition Nuggets
Breakfast is a necessary and important meal. Make sure you include foods that contain protein: Eggs are quick and easy to prepare; whole grain toast with peanut butter or a slice of cheese and a glass of milk makes a quick meal; or try plain yogurt and add your favorite fruit. As many regular yogurts are high in sugar, adding canned, frozen, or fresh fruit will increase your fiber and provide vitamins and minerals. Including protein in your diet can help you maintain muscle tone, support fall prevention and improve your balance.
