Election Committee is now accepting nominations for the
Villages of Westcreek Owners' Association's Board of Directors. There will be (2) two open seats.
Please use the form below to tell the community a little about yourself. Don't forget the following crucial items.

- To be elected, the candidate must be a Homeowner of the Villages of Westcreek.

Did you know that the
First Annual Meeting of the
Villages of Westcreek Owners' Association was held on
Tuesday, May 24, 1994, at Clarence Galm Elementary.
The first homeowners elected to the Board of Director were as follows:
- President - Beverly Bailey
- Vice President - Charles Trent
- Treasurer - Floyd Bullock
- Secretary - Jim Morgan
- Vice Secretary - Duane Larkin
Ms. Beverly Bailey resigned from the Board of Directors later that year on November 15, 1994, when she sold her home and moved from the community. In December 1994, Mr. Lou Howie was appointed to fill the unexpired term of Ms. Bailey. Today, only Charles Trent and Duane Larkin still own homes in our community.

FIXING BROKEN WINDOWS
PART 1 - CRIME IN OUR COMMUNITY

The book
"Fixing Broken Windows"
uses the image of broken windows to explain how neighborhoods might decay into disorder and even crime if no one attends faithfully to t
heir property maintenance. It uses an example of a neighborhood that contains both businesses and residential homes, but the basic principle can be applied to our neighborhood as well.
The premise is this: if an office window is broken, then a passersby observing it will conclude that no one cares or no one is in charge. In time, a few will begin throwing rocks to break more windows. Soon all the windows will be broken, and now a passersby will think that, not only is no one in charge of the building, no one is in charge of the street on which it faces. Only the young, the criminal, or the foolhardy have any business on an unprotected avenue, and so more and more citizens will abandon the street to those they assume prowl it.
Small disorders lead to larger and larger ones, and perhaps even to crime. Soon, many buildings will have broken windows, squatters may find the buildings a good place for shelter, trash accumulates, and soon the area is a place to dump trash and abandon automobiles.
What can be learned from this simple theory? Appearance does matter!
A simple 'broken window,' or a lack of property maintenance in our case, can begin to decay an entire neighborhood and property values.

CHALLENGER SPORTS' BRITISH SOCCER CAMP
The Villages of Westcreek Soccer League is excited to announce a new partnership with Challenger Sports.
Challenger Sports' British Soccer Camp is the most popular soccer camp in the country based upon one of the most innovative approaches to coaching youth soccer in the US and Canada.
Their experienced International staff study the game at all levels and will help players improve their core techniques and become more confident on the ball.
With programs for each age, the curriculum includes a variety of foot skills, technical drills, tactical practices, freestyle soccer, small-sided gam
es and coached scrimmages.
World Cup style games are held each day, where campers compete for their adopted country. In addition, they are encouraged to learn about different customs and cultures, the Challenger Sports core values of respect, responsibility, integrity, sportsmanship and leadership.

Creative Dance Class is for children ages 3-5 and provides a fun way to learn the foundation of dance, music, timing and fun choreographies. The class teaches focus, and coordination, while combining movements to music that is fun for all.

This Weekend Around the House, take time to inspect and remove any weak, broken, rubbing limbs from your trees. Be sure to treat all wounds with a tree wound dressing immediately after each cut.

SLOW DOWN NEIGHBOR
Did you know that the recommended speed limit should be kept to
20 mph or below in front of the Sports Park complex?
Just a reminder that children are out and about in our neighborhoods. Kids on bikes, balls rolling in the street, and kids running after them can lead to deadly consequences.
Please be cautious when driving around in the Villages and be aware of your surroundings to help eliminate any accidents and injuries.

PAINTING
Painting all or any exterior part of the dwelling or outdoor storage sheds, the same color as previously approved, does not require ARC approval. All paintable surfaces must be maintained in attractive condition. If faded, chipped, mildewed or discolored, those areas must be repainted. When painting any structure a different color, a PIA along with proposed color sample(s) and a color picture must be submitted to the ARC for approval. (
Refer to VWOA-CC&Rs, Article XIII, Section 13.03 s.)
Note:
All structures must be painted to match. Colors are limited to shades of 'earth tone' and, most importantly, must be compatible with the masonry on the main dwelling. 'Earth tone' as defined herein, are the varying shades of white, beige, brown, tan, green, red, blue, gray and some shades of terra cotta. Other variations of 'earth tone' colors may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Paint colors of the dwelling such as purple, yellow, orange and pink are not approvable as well as bright or bold colors of red, blue and green. Paint colors on fascia boards, trim, garage and other doors, rain gutters, or any wooden accent must compliment the principal color of the dwelling.

THE MARKET IS BACK!
The VWOA is hosting a Farmers Market from 9:00 A.M. till 1:00 P.M. every Thursday.
The Farmers Market now offers fresh chicken and beef for sale along with their regular offerings of fruits and vegetables.
The market is located in the overflow parking lot adjacent to the Com
munity Center. They accept WIC, Senior FMNP Vouchers and Credit Cards.
