Weimer is 4th faculty member to earn top award
Professor David Weimer is the fourth La Follette School faculty member to receive a major award from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2017. He will be honored with the prestigious Hilldale Award in the Social Studies at the Faculty Senate meeting April 3. Other recent award recipients are Don Moynihan, Jason Fletcher, and Mark Copelovitch. Read more
Behavioral Insights for Government lecture series begins March 7
The Behavioral Insights for Government (BIG) lecture series is a new initiative that brings to policymakers the practical lessons from behavioral economics and public administration. It is sponsored by the La Follette School and the Behavioral Research Insights Through Experiments (BRITE) Lab at UW-Madison. The series begins March 7 with Elizabeth Linos, whose research focuses on how to improve government performance. Read more
Chinn tackles border wall in EconoFact post
In one of his first contributions on EconoFact, Professor Menzie Chinn discussed President Donald Trump's proposed wall on the Mexican border. Chinn, one of the United States' leading experts on currency exchange rates, also is co-author of the widely praised Econbrowser blog. Read more.
Data, strategies for reducing homelessness shared with policymakers
During the 2016 federal fiscal year, nearly half of the people experiencing homelessness in Wisconsin were members of a family with minor children. Most also lived outside of Milwaukee and Dane counties. Speakers at the 35th Wisconsin Family Impact Seminar shared this information and much more with policymakers at the State Capitol on January 25. Read more
