Make March Matter Book DriveBookDrive

Two Hingham students are working on their Girl Scout Silver Award initiative by collecting used and new elementary level reading books (grades K-5) to benefit and bring literature to the students at Arnone Elementary School in Brockton.  East School is joining in on the efforts!  A collection bin will be located in the school from March 1-31. Please consider clearing your bookshelves of any extra books, purchasing your favorite stories to donate to our cause, and helping us promote literacy and the love of reading. Questions? [email protected] or Heather Bastardi at [email protected]

Grade 4 - In-Class Writing Workshops - Gregory Mone - Revising the Writer - March 10thGregoryMone

Famous children's book author, Gregory Mone will provide an in-class writing workshop on Friday, March 10th. Mr. Mone will work with the children to tear apart and reconstruct The Adventures of Super Q, a story he created in the  seventh grade. Children will start with the big picture, then zoom in and run through exercises that will give them a deeper understanding of voice, sentence structure and fluency, word choice, and more. This is a great way to show kids what revision actually looks like on the page, and how to make a mediocre story shine. The exercises change based on the grade.

*9-10am Presentation to entire Grade in Cafeteria then In-Class Workshops

Class Workshops:
10:00-10:50am
11:50-12:40am
