MMAC will open a special exhibition focused on pioneering women artists who came to Montana at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, and significantly contributed to the aesthetic and cultural milieu of the state. This will not feature your typical Western iconography.

"Write Stuff" Saturday Workshop // Living Art of Montana

Bare Bait Dance Screenings // Roxy Theater

Bare Bait Dance partners with the Roxy Theater to bring inspired collaborations of dance and film to Montana. Twenty unique choreographic voices and directional visions will share two Kinetoscope screenings during the final weekend in January.

Celebrate the successful launch of 105.5FM KFGM with the rest of radio staff! There will be appetizers from the soon-to-be-opened Union Grill, and both Jon Van Dyke and Ann Szalda-Petree will be making speeces. Esteemed economist Kaushik Basu will present this lecture as a part of the President's Lecture Series at the University of Montana. basu is the C. Marks Professor of International Studies and economics professor at Cornell University.

Montana Performing Arts Consortium Showcase and Conference// Mansfield Theater, Great Falls

Three sets of showcases will be held on Saturday at 9:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. in the Mansfield Theater. They will feature regional and national performing artists. The showcases are free and open to the public.  The Exhibit Hall is in the Missouri Room and only open to registered Conference attendees.

The Livingston Film Series presents this free screening, in which love and identity become twisted across the lines of the internet. A documentary from Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, it follows photographer Nev Schulman who falls into a complicated online relationship spurred by an 8-year-old painter.




Star Wars, Dark Matter and Dvorak // Glacier Symphony & Chorale
Feb. 11 - 12 / Website 
This concert will feature a new work composed for tuba by Benedict Kirby, a professor of music at the University of Montana. Kirby says the story behind the piece stems from his love of astronomical subject matter. John Williams' iconic "Star Wars Suite" and "The Noon Day Witch" by Dvorak will complete this cosmic concert.

Inside job: In the tradition of institutional critique, artists are throwing wrenches into the art world's works
"T he standard hours for contemporary art galleries have been set in stone for decades: 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday. But quite a few people attempting to visit  A. L. Steiner's exhibition  this past fall at Koenig & Clinton in New York found the space shuttered. Steiner cut the gallery's workweek in half."   Read more at Art News  

National Library of Israel Buys Vast Library of Rare Jewish Books
"The  National Library of Israel has acquired what has been described as the greatest private library of Jewish books and manuscripts ever assembled. [...]  The collection comprises more than 10,000 items that 'chart the spread of Hebrew printing and the global dissemination of Jewish culture,' the National Library of Israel said in a statement."
