Spring 2017 Training Opportunities 
Collaborative Advocacy: Special Education Law in Practice Conference 

The training will be held on February 25, 2017 at the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law in Louisville, KY and is being hosted by the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law and the College of Education and Human Development. This conference for professionals in law, education, and related fields is to provide the tools for everyone to advocate in the best interest of the student with a disability and to avoid confrontation, litigation, and disputes. Topics include: Requirements of IDEA, Behavior and Discipline of Students with Disabilities, Resolving Disputes, Seclusion and Restraints and more.

When the School Bus Stops - Preparing for Life After High School

Join KATC on March 15, 2017 at Jenny Wiley State Park in Prestonsburg, KY for a training that will walk family members, social workers, counselors, educators and community support workers through some effective steps to help students and families be prepared for the transition into adulthood. Topics include: self-help skills, dating, guardianship and financial planning.

2017 Western Kentucky ASD Parent Summit - From Home to School - Supporting Your Student

The Kentucky Advisory Council on Autism, Kentucky Autism Training Center, Western Kentucky Educational Cooperative, and the Calloway County Early Childhood Regional Training Center is hosting this FREE training session for Parents, Self-Advocates and Professionals. Topics include: ABA in the classroom, autism in the home, promoting social skills, guardianship, special education law and post-secondary education options.  This training will be held on March 17, 2017 at Curris Center at Murray State University in Murray, KY.

Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorders and the Implementation of Evidence Based Practices

Join KATC for a full day training geared toward meeting the needs of Mental Health Professionals, Family Resource Youth Service Center Coordinators, School Psychologists, School Counselors, and School Social Workers. Topics include: Identifying characteristics of ASD, learning what EBPs exist for individuals with ASD and how to make recommendations based on the identified strengths and weaknesses of the individual with ASD. This training will be held on April 21, 2017 at the GRREC Office and Training Facility in Bowling Green, KY.

Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) Administration Training

The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2), often referred to as the "gold standard" measure of observational assessment for autism spectrum disorder,  training will be held on May 11 - 12, 2017 at the Morehead Conference Center in Morehead, KY.   Individuals who can administer the ADOS-2 are clinical and school psychologists, psychiatrists, developmental pediatricians, occupational therapists, and speech pathologists that have prior education, training, and experience in conducting individually administered test batteries and, training by an independent trainer or the test publisher is required.
