The Results Are IN!
A Note From Pastor Linda

Pray then in this way...  ~Matthew 6

A Christian has prayed abundantly who has rightly prayed the Lord's Prayer."  ~Martin Luther

Dear Friends~

Yes, the $5000 Lakes Area FMSC MobilePack Matching Challenge results are IN... and will be REVEALED this Sunday, March 5- so be there!!  But for now- let's get ready for LENT!

LENT- Lent is a season of forty days, not counting Sundays, which begins on Ash Wednesday (tomorrow, March 1 st!) and ends on Holy Saturday (April 15). Lent comes from the Anglo Saxon word lencten, which means "spring." The forty days represents the time Jesus spent in the wilderness, enduring the temptation of Satan and preparing to begin his ministry.   For us today, Lent is an opportunity to draw nearer to God as we prepare for Holy Week, Jesus Journey to the cross, and anticipate the joy of the Resurrection on Easter morning.

One way we draw nearer to God is through prayer.  In the Sermon on the Mount Jesus said:  Pray then in this way... followed by what we call The Lord's Prayer.  On Ash Wednesday we will begin a 6-week worship series:  Conversations with God- The Lord's Prayer.  For many people, the Lord's Prayer is simply a prayer to recite.  On Wednesdays we will be invited into LIVING the Lord's Prayer.

Wednesday Lent Worship Schedule (March 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, April 5):
  • 12 noon Worship followed by Lunch
  • 6pm Worship with Dinner from 5-5:55pm
  • Education time follows 6pm Worship (no education on Ash Wednesday, March 1 or Spring Break, March 8)

Grace and Peace on Your Lenten Journey!

See you in church!

 ~Pastor Linda

Each week we will explore the Lord's Prayer to consider what it means in our daily lives. There is a service at noon, which is followed by a lunch and a service at 6pm with dinner from 5-6pm and education will follow each service on March 15, 22, 29 and April 5.

New Book Club Book: The Latehomecomer by Kao Kalia Yang
March 6, 2017

In search of a place to call home, thousands of Hmong families made the journey from the war-torn jungles of Laos to the overcrowded refugee camps in Thailand, then onward to America. The Hmong became a people without a home to call their own. Yang's book chronicles the struggle of the Hmong to find a new place to settle and to forge and identity for themselves. It is Yang's tribute to her grandmother, the remarkable woman whose spirit held them all together. It is also an eloquent, first-hand account of a people who have worked hard to make their voices heard.
Discussion date will be March 6 at 7pm. Pastor Linda will be the facilitator. Please contact her at [email protected] with any questions.
