President's Message
Donna Broderick
"It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let  things happen to them. They went out and happened to things ." - Leonardo da Vinci

Our Impact members have definitely 'been happening' this year!

Our Focus Area Committees have completed their Letter of Intent reviews and have chosen 33 enthusiastic nonprofit partners to invite to submit a full Grant application. We thank all 116 hardworking agencies that submitted Letters of Intent seeking transformational ways to tackle a broad range of needs in our community.  The strength and creativity of the proposals made narrowing the field very challenging. The Committees are now in recess while the invited agencies work hard to prepare and submit their Grant Applications.

The committees will resume work at the end of March to review the Grant Applications. This next step provides all Impact 100 members with another excellent opportunity to join a Focus Area Committee. The committees will begin with training and welcome new members as well as those who have already served on the Committees.  If you are interested, please review the choices of committees, times and locations posted on our website: Join A Committee and fill out the form to let us know which committee you would like to join.

This year, each Focus Area will select up to two grant proposals to present to the Board.  A Board review committee will select 6-7 Finalists from these proposals. The Finalists will present their proposals at the Annual Awards Celebration in September, vying to be one of o ur 4 grant recipients.

Our Membership/Recruiting team is also already hard at work engaging our current members and recruiting members for 2018 . We hope all our members will help in this endeavor by building awareness of Impact 100, telling friends and colleagues about the organization, and by helping us to retain current members and recruit new members.  For those who find a payment plan helpful, we offer a monthly installment payment plan - and all are encouraged to use it.

We were pleased to meet some of our over 100 new Impact 100 members at our New Member Welcome and Culinary Event on February 23rd. Their enthusiasm along with that of our loyal members from prior years are sure to make the Impact 100 organization larger and stronger than ever!

Impact 100 is excited to accept applications Through April 7, 2017 for our Young Philanthropist Scholarship Program for the class of 2018. Check out the section below for more information on this program or go to: Young Philanthropist Scholarship Program .

Please join us for our Impact 100 Educational Event - Women in Philanthropy: Educated Giving - at the Mercantile Library on Tuesday, March 21st. Dinner will be catered by LaSoupe. Check below for more details.

Thank you for joining us in transforming our community! I look forward to seeing you at upcoming Impact 100 events in 2017!

Giving Together
....Has Exponential Effects on Communities!

Philanthropy is changing. Often now, "philanthropy involves many checks and many donors committed to working together to change lives and communities.  Collective giving or giving circles, as they are known, have been quietly at work for decades."

Sound familiar? Here's a great article that the Women's Collective Giving Grantmakers Network co-authored with the Women's Philanthropy Institute at Indiana University's School of Philanthropy, that mentions quite heavily our Impact 100 model. Check it out HERE.

....Reconvene late March to Review Grants!
Our Focus Area Committees (FAC's) have been busy reviewing requests for funding ("Letters of Intent") from our nonprofit partners. That work was completed in late February. Nonprofits who submitted LOI's received formal communication on 2/21 regarding their eligibility to move forward in our grant review process. Those nonprofits were also invited to attend a training session to learn about our Grant Review Application process.

This means there is a second chance to get involved with grant review, if you wish!   Our five Focus Area Committees will begin meeting the last week of March as outlined below to review applications, go on nonprofit site visits, and ultimately, put forth 1-2 finalists who will request funding from Impact 100 membership at the Annual Awards Celebration. Meeting locations and committee chairs facilitating are the same as for LOI reviews and are posted on the website.
  • Education: March 27th (Monday evening in Hyde Park)
  • Family: March 28th (Tuesday evening at Fifth-Third Center in Madisonville)

  • Health & Wellness: March 30th (Thursday evening at Fifth-Third Center in Madisonville)
  • Culture Focus Area Committee: March 31st (Friday lunch at Diamond Oaks Career Campus, West Side)

Member Spotlight!
Lindsey Huhn

Who am I?
My name is Lindsey Huhn and I have been an Impact 100 member for 3 years. I have a huge passion for helping others and I am able to fill this need by volunteering with Impact 100 as the Young Philanthropist liaison and a founding member of the United Youth Council in Westwood. I have two nephews and a niece that claim all of my free time outside of work and serving others. I mentor a high school student that keeps me on my toes with the latest "hip" trends, although she would shake her head at me for saying hip. I attend church at Crossroads Westside where I have been a part of their Justice program, small groups, and I AM program.

What made me want to join Impact 100?
Philanthropy has always been a huge passion of mine since high school, so when my mom told me about this nonprofit in Cincinnati called Impact 100 I was intrigued. I was invited to "meet the finalist" event where I was completely blown away by the process. I loved the idea of collectively giving because as a young professional I could give a much bigger donation than if I were to give individually on my own. I applied for the Young Philanthropist scholarship program and was accepting into Impact 100 in 2015.

What keeps me a member of Impact 100?
This is easy. THE WOMEN! I am positive that we have some of the greatest women in Greater Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky that enjoy volunteering all of their time with Impact 100. Not only do they help raise money and awareness for nonprofits in the tristate, but they also do an amazing job with building each other up. You can't leave an Impact 100 event without feeling like you can change the world, I'm just sure of that. I also really love that all of the money donated 100% goes to the nonprofits and the money also stays locally in the tristate area so that you can really see the benefit of your donation.

Why I set up a payment plan for Impact 100 several years ago-
  • Practically painless payments . . .
  • Stretching your payments makes budgeting easy . . .
  • Installment payments stop clutter in your in-box and mail box - no need for pleas
  • Installment payments help Impact 100 focus on what's most important . .  transformation of Nonprofit agencies in the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area.
- - that's why I set up a payment plan for Impact 100!

Susan D. Cranley
Impact 100 Board Member Emeritus and Impact 100 Member since 2010

Paying by installment is easy to set up and ensures that your membership payment is completed before year end. No need for invoices, e-blasts or email reminders. Click here for more details(After you click on the membership level you want, it will give you an option for recurring payments.)
