Residents recently approved a Public Safety Bond to ensure a safer Tukwila for generations to come. The bond pays for vital updates to safety facilities and equipment, organized under the Public Safety Plan.

TIB Community Workshop Overview
Imagination, creativity, and commitment to vision created possibilities at the TIB workshop this past weekend. Great community participation from Foster High School students to residents who have lived in Tukwia for 50 years, helped shape the ideas presented by the Congress for New Urbanism (CNU) consultant team. A final report will be transmitted to the City on May 4 at the
CNU conference in Seattle.
Staff will continue to work with refining implementation ideas presented in the final report. Recommendations will include revisions to the Zoning Code for the neighborhood as well as changes to TIB to allow on-street parking and protected bike lanes. Going to a more urban neighborhood will mean, among other things, allowing taller buildings, requiring less parking and more streets and pedestrian walkways.

Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 prohibits all state and local governments from discriminating on the basis of disability.
This ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan establishes the City of Tukwila's ongoing commitment as an all-inclusive community to providing equal access for all, including those with disabilities. In developing this plan, the City of Tukwila has undertaken a comprehensive evaluation of its right-of-way facilities and programs to determine what types of access barriers exist for individuals with disabilities. This plan will be used to help guide future planning and implementation of necessary accessibility improvements.
Tukwila's Draft ADA Transition Plan documents are now available on the City's website and hard copies are also available for viewing at the City Clerk's Office, 6200 Southcenter Blvd., the Tukwila Permitting Center in Suite 100 of 6300 Southcenter Blvd, and at the Tukwila Community Center, 12424 42nd Avenue South. Alternate accessible formats will be made available upon request, including braille, large font, or audible versions. During the comment period, the Public, City Council, and staff are encouraged to take this opportunity to review and submit feedback on the documents.
At the end of the review period, revisions will be made as needed and a final version will be presented to Council for consideration. Transition Plans are designed as living documents and are intended to be updated.
Public comments and suggestions about the plan will be accepted now through 5:00 p.m. March 31, 2017 at [email protected] or written comments must be delivered to the Public Works Department, 6300 Southcenter Blvd., Suite 100, Tukwila, WA 98188 and postmarked no later than 5:00 p.m. PST on March 31, 2017.
