Study catalogs the flavors of American made goat cheese

Researchers recently published a study that catalogs the complex flavors of American produced cheeses made with goat milk. The goat cheese flavor lexicon helps cheese makers tailor the flavors in goat cheeses and other products made with goat milk to consumer tastes.

Spring enrollment sets record

K-State Olathe has 142 students who are earning master's degrees, doctorates, professional science master's degrees or who are taking graduate-level coursework through on-campus or distance classes.

Upcoming event highlights STEM careers to young women

On March 28, K-State Olathe and Microsoft are teaming up for Microsoft DigiGirlz High, an event that encourages young women in Greater Kansas City to get involved in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

Sensory research, techniques are focus of Petfood Innovation Workshop

On April 3, K-State Olathe is hosting the Petfood Innovation Workshop. This year's theme is "Taste of Pet Food's Future" and looks at how sensory research is combined with pet food ingredients and production techniques.

New program to help fill need for elementary school teachers

Kansas State University recently launched the Master of Arts in Teaching program. The online program helps those with bachelor's degrees earn a master's degree in elementary education in 12 months rather than three or four years. Kansas is currently facing a teacher shortfall, particularly in rural and urban school districts.

Following a short nutritional session, attendees cook multiple main courses and side dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients. Generational diversity in the workforce keynote, March 30-31 -- Bruce Tulgan, one of the nation's leaders in management training and generational diversity in the workforce, will be discussing these topics at the March 30-31 MAB professional development and alumni reunion event at K-State Olathe. The event is open to professionals working in every sector of agribusiness. Register now.

Continuing education for veterinarians, March 29 - April 26 -- Veterinarians, veterinary technicians and practice managers can earn continuing education credit through a series of animal health-focused information sessions at K-State Olathe. Open House, April 1 -- Make April 1 a day for fun, family and warm Wildcat memories at the 2017 All-University Open House. From 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., K-State Olathe will be serving up free food, fun and plenty of purple with numerous activities, exhibits and entertainment for all ages that celebrate K-State and the benefits K-State Olathe offers to Greater Kansas City. Around the campus

Students were welcomed back to campus for the spring semester with fresh baked goods and coffee by K-State Olathe faculty and staff.

On Feb. 10, K-State Olathe welcomed dozens of local farmers' market vendors and managers to the Farmers' Market Workshop. Attendees learned about vending, cover cropping and other soil health strategies, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, or SNAP, and more. The workshop was organized by the Kansas Department of Agriculture, K-State Research and Extension and the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

On Feb. 11, campus swapped textbooks for tortilla chips and other snacks as local, multicultural alumni gathered at K-State Olathe to cheer on the 'Cats for the televised K-State vs. West Virginia basketball game. The watch party was organized by the K-State Alumni Association.

On Jan. 27, Janice Barrow, associate dean for academic affairs and executive education at
K-State Olathe, joined university officials and Manhattan residents for a wreath laying ceremony held at the Martin Luther King Jr. bust on the Kansas State University campus.
