"Unless humility precede, accompany, and follow up all the good we accomplish, unless we keep our eyes fixed on it, pride will snatch everything right out of our hands."  ~St. Augustine
The readings for this Sunday are Is 49:3,5-6; 1 Cor 1:1-3; Jn 1:29-34.  In the Gospel, when John the Baptist says that he did not know Jesus he meant that he did not know the hidden reality of Jesus' divinity until the Holy Spirit revealed it to him at Jesus' Baptism. The Holy Spirit is at work today to make the Lord Jesus Christ known to us through the gift of faith.  As you prepare for Mass this weekend here are some questions for reflection: What must I do to grow in the knowledge and love of Jesus Christ?  How can I be more accepting of the gift of faith which God sends through the Holy Spirit?
