Register Today for March 10 Workshop and Learn What Placemaking Is and How It Can Improve Your City or Town
The University of Oklahoma Institute for Quality Communities and the Oklahoma Municipal League are hosting a full day workshop to be held at the Norman Campus on March 10th (lunch and convenient parking will be provided at no additional charge). The workshop will focus on placemaking; evaluating and improving public spaces. Information on how to obtain grant assistance on these projects will also be provided.  Communities across the state have worked with OU Institute for Quality Communities in a wide range of projects to benefit their city or town. Placemaking is a process of creating quality public spaces based on local assets, culture, and preferences. This workshop will demonstrate the connection between placemaking and community development goals, share success stories from Oklahoma communities, and show how to evaluate public spaces. OML will be giving grants to assist our member cities with placemaking projects. Sign Up Today! Municipal Government Day at the Capitol - March 21st
Plan now to attend this popular half-day event that will take place at the Oklahoma State Capitol on March 21st. Hosted by OML and the Mayors Council of Oklahoma, you will have the opportunity to network with other municipal officials, hear the latest information on legislative issues, visit with your legislative representatives about municipal issues and meet the student winners of the "If I Were Mayor" essay contest. OML Announces the City of McAlester to Host the Opening Session of the 2017 Community Leadership Development Class 6!
The City of McAlester will host the next CLD class on April 6th and 7th. Hosting the community Leadership Development class is a great opportunity for cities and towns to showcase their community!  Be a Host City!  Download the application.

March 23 Workshop in Lawton Next Opportunity to Satisfy Your New Official Educational Requirement
Throughout the year OML provides an intensive educational program specifically tailored for newly elected  and appointed  officials as well as experienced officials who want to keep up-to-date on municipal issues. An officer is defined in 11 O.S. Section 1-102 . The next workshop will be in Lawton on Thursday, March 23, 2017. For more information, see the NOI page on our website.
 
Remember, you don't have to be new to attend. Everyone is welcome!
Don't Miss Our Next Municipal Clerks And Treasurers (MC&T) Training In El Reno On March 3rd
On March 3 rd in El Reno OML will host its 3 rd training of the year. This workshop fulfills state requirements for the MC&T certification program, as well as 4 hours of Certified Municipal Officials (CMO) credit.  It is also the only workshop that will have Cash Handling Training.
