It certainly has been feeling like spring outside, but we can't forget that March is just about to get underway and it is shaping up to be a busy month at Abingdon! Don't forget that
there will be Parent-Teacher Conferences this week on the afternoon of March 2 and all day on March 3.
School will be released at 12:26 pm on March 2 and will be closed on March 3
. We are still looking for dessert donations for the staff luncheon on Friday. For more information on how to donate, contact Rebecca Kim.
Important Deadlines This Week:
Fairlington 5K Early Registration Deadline - February 28
It's time to register for the Fairlington 5K Run & Walk. The event is a non-competitive, family-friendly event hosted by Abingdon Elementary School and the Fairlington Citizens Association (FCA) that promotes health and physical fitness. The goal of the event is to raise money and awareness for The Cure for Ellie, Abingdon's Physical Education Program and Abingdon's Literacy Programs. The Run/Walk is scheduled for April 29th. Yearbook Pre-Orders and Lovelines Orders Due March 1
Please remember that Abingdon Yearbook pre-orders and Lovelines orderforms are due by
March 1. After March 1, Yearbooks will cost $25. We are offering two ways to order Yearbooks and Lovelines this year. You can either return the form sent home in last Tuesday's folder or you can order
online. Please contact the
PTA if you need a new form or need any assistance with your order.
Upcoming Events For Your Calendars:
Mixed Bags Spring Fundraiser - March 7 through 17
Back by popular demand, the Abingdon PTA will once again host their Mixed Bags Spring Fundraiser. The order packets will be coming home in the March 7 Tuesday folders. This will be our last major fundraiser of the year and provides us with valuable funds for the rest of this year, as well as the events at the beginning of next year, including the Back to School Picnic and Back to School Night Babysitting Services. For more information on the fundraiser, please contact Becki Kennedy.
CETA Arts Integration Day - March 10
Plan now to attend the Abingdon CETA Arts Integration Day scheduled for March 10 from 8:00 - 9:45 am. The PTA will be sponsoring a light breakfast and coffee starting at 7:35 am in the library.
Abingdon Movie Night - March 10
Join us for a night at the movies on March 10. The doors will open at 6:00 pm and the movie will start at 6:30 pm. We will be selling popcorn, pizza, drinks, fruit and candy. Profits from the food sales will go to the Abingdon Drama Club. Coming to the event and want to help out? We are looking for parents to help with the food sales. To volunteer, please contact Rebecca Kim.
Abingdon International Night Potluck and Show - March 24
Save the date for the Abingdon International Night Potluck and Show on March 24. Families are invited for a night of delicious food and entertainment from around the world. We are currently looking for international music and dancing groups that would like to do a short (10 minute) performance at this event. If you are in a group or know of a group that would like to perform, please contact me at [email protected]. Check back next week for more information on how to sign up for the potluck.
