CDF: Building a global
co-operative community
For 70 years, the Co-operative Development Foundation of Canada (CDF) has been mobilizing resources - mostly from Canadian co-ops and credit unions - to make the world a better place. For much of that time, CDF has worked with the  Canadian Co-operative Association (CCA) and other partners to help families around the globe fight poverty and create more secure lives through their co-operative enterprises. Discover in this Dispatch two of the many tools we are using to achieve the SDGs. We invite you to  join our team.

Mentoring women leaders
for the return of a lifetime.

Goal:   Ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning.

Ea ch year, credit unions across Canada open their doors to share their knowledge and experience with women c redit union managers from developing countries. The Women's Mentorship Program is a unique learnin g opportunity for all involved.

The program has trained 217 women from 19 countries since 2002. Over 200 Canadian credit unions have hosted and shared their knowledge.

We want to break down barriers of distance and cost so that more women
leaders may participate.

Typhoon-affected co-op has a new beginning - because of you.

Three years ago, typhoon Haiyan slammed into the Philippines leaving a path of death and destruction.
Hardest hit were Samar and Leyte provinces.

Goal: Reduce inequality within and among countries.

Canadians responded to CDF's call for donations to help disabled members of affected worker co-operatives and their fam ilies rebuild. In the coastal city of Tacloban, CDF donations came to the aid of members of the Tacloban Persons with Disabilities Multipurpose Co-operative (TAPDICO), enabling the purchase of a piece of land farther inland. Other organizations joined in, building housing units and a new workshop there.

Co-op members move into their new homes and begin producing school chairs at the new site this month. During a recent visit to the co-op, members expressed their appreciation to all who made their new homes, land and workshop possible.
